Jada, 3 months ago.

Bad taste? Yes. Unacceptable? Debatable. Worthy of assault? No.

I don't know what ur trying to prove. I have OCD, if a humorist made fun of my compulsions on TV for millions to see and I felt uncomfortable about it, then I feel uncomfortable about it. And I love to joke about my OCD to make myself feel better, and some other OCD sufferers can make it too, but if Chris Rock a stranger said "Look at her, she's probably having intrusive thoughts about murdering people tonight HAHAHAHAHAHAHA" *crowd laughs* Yeah... it's not the same as if I decided to make that joke myself.. :trollga:

For me it’s about advocating and defending black women. Protecting them from mental, emotional and physical violence. If Jada felt protected from Will slapping Chris Rock, that’s good for her. He chose his route, but that doesn’t mean that I think it’s the right or appropriate action.

Wow... So this is real.. okay :bradley:

Well I do not support physical violence at all. He could have went up on stage and confront him verbally instead of slapping him.

Spoiler

On the other hand, he deserved it SOOOO much after all these years of bad jokes about everyone.

Making jokes like about appearance and things people can't control can never be funny, they always end up being insulting, insensitive and hurtful. As a humorist you should know that.

Um, both things can be true.  Making insensitive jokes can be hurtful.  But nobody deserves to be assaulted because of a hurtful joke.  Ban the comedian next time. Punish him through shame.  But violence is never justified.

All of this after Will ‘s  docuseries. This gives me “a star is born Norman Maine vibes”.

Chris shouldn’t have joked about a sensitive issue.Alopecia areata is a real medical condition which women struggles everyday to come to term with .Knowing Hollywood’s beauty standards, it will be very difficult for Jada.

On the other hand, Will recently opened up about his mental health struggles and his suicidal thoughts in his docuseries. His anger may come from a place of mental illness.

Jokes are all well and funny till it is not,and it may become personal.I Sometimes, the threshold maybe a little low depending on the person they are joking and what kind of relationship they share.

It is unfortunate for both Chris and Will.

It’s all a bit much really, Will overreacted and Chris acted professional under the circumstances. I feel sorry for the winners because this has overshadowed the entire night and has become the highlight of this year’s Oscars.

I'm saying that as a public personality, she chose not to hide it. Wigs and weaves are extremely common, and in the Black Community as well. It's something she speaks openly about, making fun of herself as well (not being a victim). She embraces the look fully, making it glamorous and normalizing it for people who have the condition.

Now, it's not a terminal disease, it's not a secret (like someone being outed publicly). So to make fun of it, there is a debate as to determine if it's acceptable or not. But sadly, that wasn't what the question was here: Will's reaction. We see awards show hosts make fun of people so many times, sometimes going personal. Think about Ricky Gervais at the GG, or Amy Schumer saying DiCaprio cares about the environment to leave a better planet to his girlfriends. We can also talk, in another context, of Drag Race, where the reading challenge is basically "make fun of someone's insecurities" and people love it.

Jada didn't like it, it's fine. Will laughed, then saw his wife's reaction. Then we know the rest.

When he won, he, in tears, talked about being a vessel of love, and that this love can make people do crazy things sometimes. I have two comments about that: 1. I'm sure domestic violence victims and survivors got shivers hearing this, that his physical violence was a manifestation of his love for someone. And 2. if he really was a vessel of love, he would have got up there, and speaking directly into Chris's mic saying something like "my wife is beautiful, no matter what anybody would ever say about it." That way, his love for his wife would have touched the audience (in the room and at home) and Chris would have looked a fool. Classy, but point made.

Last night was just assault, that was later rewarded. Disgusted.

Yes exactly. But u shared a Jada video where she embraces it as if it proves something, which confused me.

So true. Literally what he could've done instead of this. It looked embarassing for Will

Props to Chris for handling the situation so professionally.

I’d have whacked him back.

In my messy era.

I understand why Will did it.

Was the slap necessary? Absolutely not.

But hearing someone joking about the health condition of one of your loved ones...I honestly don't know how I would react, tbh.

I condemn violence - physically or psychologically. But that joke was simply rude and disrespectful.

Ew, David!

The fact that Will was allowed to go back to his seat after just committing assault... Abhorrent behavior, and just knowing that millions of fans who look up to him will see that makes it that much worse.

Chris Rock's joke was low and not funny, but... my cousin has alopecia. She's fine, she's not in poor health, it's not terminal. It's not that serious, and it certainly didn't warrant violence.
