a health condition that is purely cosmetic and can be fixed with a wig?

I lost my hair starting at 17 and I didn't like being teased about it, but I would NEVER have wanted anybody assaulated for it.

"yeah but it's different for women"

No. She's a GORGEOUS, RICH woman and this is ridiculous.

Just because you didn't have a problem living without any hair doesn't mean others don't. Stop trying to paint your experience as universal when it's not. People react differently. He 100% deserved that slap.

I respectfully disagree with your opinion. Nobody deserves violence or assault. The joke is wrong and bad but assaulting someone is never ever ok.

oh the poor, gorgeous, rich movie star that looks stunning with or without hair had her feelings hurt.

becoming less naturally gorgeous is such a tragedy!  Someone should start a foundation.

Rich, famous, gorgeous people have been joked about forever because privilege can stand to be taken down a notch from time to time.

The idea that HAIR is too sacred to joke about just irritates the hell out of me.

And to think it warrants violence is nuts

Tbh, your posts reek of bitterness, you sure you alright love?

Umm no. The joke you posted is a mysoginistic mess. Who are you to pass judgement on someone else's relationship.

Marriages require work and counseling and a woman can make the same mistake a man can make in a relationship and a man can forgive her.

Like I don't even understand what you are getting at. So any fool can make fun of his wife because she cheated? Should Jada wear a scarlet letter too for adulteress?

People in this thread should stop

1. Approving what Will Smith did

2. Saying Jada and Will are too sensitive and it's just a joke

Violence is not the answer but sitting there while your blood is boiling from someone making fun of your loved one with a medical condition is not ok. He did the right thing idc. I know these shows are about making fun of themselves but they take it too far sometimes, deal with the consequences of your jokes.

But he wasn’t sitting their with his blood boiling. Will was literally laughing at the joke until he saw his wife’s reaction.

And I’m sorry but I’m pretty sure that joke flew over most people’s head. Not many people know Jada, or her condition, or that movie reference.

Whatever the case, Will’s wife was not in physical harm; therefore it did not require a physical response.

Was the joke insensitive? Maybe.

Does this give Will the right to physically assault someone on national television? No

How anyone can defend Will is beyond me. All he had to do was have a conversation with Chris afterwards about it.

And please, let’s not forget that Will’s initial reaction was to laugh until he saw his wife roll her eyes. To me it seems like he did a 180 to prove a point that he could defend his wife, but not because he actually felt that way.

i lean towards thinking it was staged. they're actors. they get paid the big bucks to act. that whole thing, including Will Smith's vehemence, could easily be super fake and staged. i don't know why we give a **** about meaningless celebrity drama.

part of the reason why i think this was staged is it seems like yet another desperate bid for attention from actors in an industry that have become increasingly irrelevant and desperate for attention. they need fake drama to drive ratings and get clicks.

One could argue that what he did was kind as Will showed that what Chris said is not ok and will not be tolerated. This weird roasting culture should be put to a stop because it just hurts people. And no, I'm not saying violence is ok but cmon now, he deserved it.

don't mistake bitterness for being annoyed.

Why am I annoyed?

because we have people defending violence and a profane temper tantrum over a joke.

Alopecia is a "medical condition" the same way male pattern baldness is a "medical condition".   It just means some of your hair falls out, and somehow we live in a world where people put BEAUTY and HAIR on such a high pedestal that they think it's a normal and acceptable reason to act a fool.

It's a tradition that the rich and famous can take a joke at award shows and while it's true that society puts a lot of power in a woman's appearance, it's time for people to get over that.
