So you think she's as bad as a rapist? :oprah:

I think this is great that we, as a community, get together to call out a discourse we find unfair. What I find disgusting however, is ganging up against a woman who has questionable views that could possibly be fixed through dialogue - if you guys know anything about her work, you'd know she has it in her to realize she's in the wrong. And of course, the more we react as if she's a criminal, the more it consolidates her views.

There's definite wrong in what she thinks, but I think the way the community has reacted is quite nauseating. Once again, she didn't assault or killed anyone, and the fact you guys think the appropriate reaction is to act as if she did is pretty telling.

She’s not a child. She’s not an idiot either. This just feels like you’re “justifying” her transphobia because her books made a huge impact on your childhood. She’s not a rapist or a murderer, but her words and actions affect trans people in a way that you don’t seem to fully comprehend. You can still like her books but to sympathize with her/ treating her like a child just ain’t it :/

this sounds very conservative lmao

To you. The point of the post is that it doesn’t matter what my opinion is, someone somewhere will be offended. So instead of screaming into the void, I take real action to make the changes I wish to see in the world. Because at the end of the day, the only person any of us have any control over is ourselves.

It was a joke..

But let’s not forget she communicates regularly on Twitter with not only anti-trans, but Anti same sex marriage organisations.

Im sure her destain for the LGBTQIA+ community has no limits

it was not a joke, and it was was very distateful, without any nuance, depth, or understanding of the very different topics at issue.

these kind of posts are the reason why the internet is toilet.

Public debates are not a void tho. It does impact others considerations. So it can be added up to other actions.

The more people antagonize her, the less she's open to changing her views. It's a cycle.

Dude she had a billion people sending documentation to her after each transphobic actions she made, she had a ton of second chances and chosed to be vile again and again...

At some point it's not that people didn't try to show her the light enough, knowing you hurts plenty of people and doing it further again and again is just vile at some point...

Supposedly this situation is not up for debate. That’s certainly the way many users here act. I absolutely do think there is a time and medium for intelligent discussions which can impact others, but this is clearly not that.

Some people here will say anything in order to avoid saying that they really do agree with R*wling on her transphobia :yennefer:

So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

The way some of you literally go to bed at night thinking about how much you hate R*wling but say and do nothing about the rapid erosion of trans rights around the world :madge:

We’re on the edge of WWIII, anti-trans legislation is being passed daily, we’re in a global ecological crisis… but the same handful of users keep popping up in every single thread about her to get on their soapboxes and proclaim loudly to us all that they’re a trans ally and that anyone who likes Harry Potter is a monster :madge:

Absolute obsession. It’s hilarious.

The left keeps losing because we all look to pop culture as politics and focus so hard on dismantling public figures instead of getting involved in politics, voting, and talking about real issues. R*wling isn’t signing anti-trans bills, so who f*cking cares what she thinks.

More people disagree with her than agree, and yet you all amplify her crap by obsessively posting about her and chastising anyone who just loves the Potter franchise. Make it make sense.

Lol definitely not debating. I’m rebuking the behavior of many posters in this thread such as yourself.
