It's so satisfying to witness as an OG stan this so much. i remember getting so emotional at the oscar’s seeing the little weird girl i used to have to defend to the death in high school be praised in the most mainstream way and in the most mainstream setting. she’s come so much further than i could have ever imagined. back in the day i remember my blue sky ultimate dream for her was the super bowl. then when it happened i felt a similar feeling watching it that night. (there’s a moment she even talks about this during the super bowl press conference.) i was excited to see her show, but i was almost more excited that for once everyone else was watching something i wanted to watch lol. it was like the weird gay girl proved everyone wrong so much they let her headline the straightest event in america. she’s achieved incredible success and mainstream praise without ever really conforming, and it’s so beautiful to see. i think that is what she will be most remembered for…the girl who could be at the oscar’s one night and in some wild outfit singing about disco sticks the next Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
