Gaga's career since the beginning have been very fashion oriented and she is a muse for many designers and a living legend for us and the general public. Kim's career path is a little less predictable. Marrying Kanye gave her a big push in becoming the respected fashion trendsetter than she is today. some people refer to Kim Kardashian is the ultimate MODERN beauty icon like Marilyn was at her time. both Gaga and Kim's sense of fashion influenced a generation. who's the most influential fashion icon? Girls were showing up in trash bags and cheese cubes on their heads trying to look 'couture' at award shows, while others tried imitating her videos, fashion and use her directors (*cough* Run The World *cough*). Female artists were literally going through an image and identity crisis during Gaga's peak in the early 10s. No one has done it like her. That's why I go hard when I go in on Gaga, I truly dislike when she does not utilize her immense power and influence in fashion and with her visuals. And a sidenote: The clothes wear Kim, not the other way around. A telling sign when differentiating between a wannabe and a genuine visual enigma. I have to say Gaga just because Kim's influence I think is mixed with Kylie (who was more famous than Kim for a bit) and the whole Kardashian clan. Alone, it's Gaga. Every "weird" thing in pop culture the last 15 years is very Gaga, countless TV shows featured characters resembling Gaga, etc. The Kardashians as a whole are on par. Nowhere in my post did I say she was not influential, in fact when I'm giving Miss Kim the business it's because of my opinions on her large-scale negative impact on women. The point I'm making is Kim's recent fashion 'takeover' and countless other celebrities would not be a thing if Gaga was never a fashion icon. She is pretty much the inception of couture and high fashion taking over the industry in modern day pop culture. Again, not the originator, but modern inception.
