Daenerys 6,042 Posted June 16, 2022 Share Posted June 16, 2022 For this being such a well seasoned cast, I expected the judges critiques to match the standards these queens set for themselves. the judging is too nice, very coddling in a way. This is a legendary season with fierce competition. I was hoping that Ru and the panel would judge with a microscope considering the high bar that’s set with all of the winners. Pretty sure it was because majority of them said no at first due to the fear of a winner and being humiliated or sent home early. Jinkx's thesis statement was basically to ensure that you process your trauma so you can enjoy the future with less inhibition, which I think is pretty relevant to people graduating. Also the challenge was commencement speech, so I honestly don't think Viv showing up wasted as an alumni roasting her former classmates was necessarily on brief either, if we're being technical. Sure but she barely brought it back to commencement. That was my issue with it. It was basically just a story and “confront your trauma”, which is a nice sentiment, but if you barely bring your anecdote/story back to the task or audience at-hand then you aren’t really articulating the reason you said it to this audience in particular in this particular speech. The Viv’s made closer sense imo. Alumni come to speak all the time at schools, plus, she’s drunk as a skunk so if you say “well, she wasn’t speaking to her own class” the severe drunkenness kind of can answer for that so it covers up an accident like that. And at the very least, she kept the topic squarely around the audience she was speaking to so it was very clear that this was a speech for college grads. You’re right, but I think Viv’s stylistic approach kind of cushions the impact of her mistakes better imo. Jinkx’s could have been a motivational speech for *any* audience and that lack of clear specificity was kind of my issue with it. It was more TED Talk than commencement address. She was good in the lip sync tho! I almost expected for Ru to pull RPDRUK and give a star to all 4 members of a winning team. Just to shake things up. But she stuck to the format Was it just me or did Raja miss like all her own lyrics Also Jinkx is going to be sooo pissed at Viv. I think Jinkx is extremely competitive this season. You can tell she really wants to win. But OMG next week is ANOTHER design challenge This better be Raja's 2nd win. I need her to make top 4. Monet's runway was bad. The dress was good but the wig was terrible. She's one of the most successful queens and she comes out with these flat wigs each week. Viv's wig wasn't great either.
