Neroneau 1,017
Ehhh urrrrrrrr hmmmm Georgia has two separatist regions backed by Russia, same premise as Ukraine. I don’t want a crazy wanting to ‘protect’ these break away regions to and start a new war that makes us believe in nuclear fallout again
Guest
Is it plausible to do this? You need a stable democracy. If we allow all these countries who are enemies with Russia, we end up in a world war against Russia. Plus, the economy has to be stable too, or else rich countries from EU end up giving away money. I'm thinking EU has to stop altogether

berlinforme 5,385
Regardless of the whole the whole Putin/Ukraine situation I believe that the EU shouldn't take in any new member states in the near future. There are many problems and too much fundamental disagreement over the direction of the EU already. More members would only make it even more complicated. From their perspective it's very understandable to seek new alliances though, obviously.
AlexanderMagno 10,746
The European Union needs to grow itself from within. Over the last few years, we had Brexit, COVID-19, far-right movement risings all over Europe, Hungary/Orban, Poland's stance on LGBT rights... The EU was not a long time ago perceived as unable to hold on to its own ideals, some even dared to call it outdated. We are not ready for a federal EU, and that's not the goal of the union, but nevertheless we need reforms and we need to come together once again. We need to make new connections between members, before accepting new ones. A membership is not something to be rushed. Whether that's Ukraine, Georgia or Norway. Ivannn 1,150
I support Georgia on its Way to Full EU membership. It is a important step regarding security, Democracy and Rule of law for every country that gets candidacy status. Georgia Experiences Russian agression in 2008 and EU needs to show perspective for that country. Also it just shows how Russia is really isolated in world and how none of neighbouring countries want to do anything with them ( Belarus excluded ). This war showed how important EU is and how much we need to Protect it at all cost in order to Save our values and I am all for welcoming democratic countries that have same values and aspirations as EU.
