Basically, most of us thought people need to stop putting celebs up on a pedestal-look at politicians and journalists for answers on this sort of serious issue and stop expecting celebs for guidance on world events lol-and expecting them to provide some sort of deep answer on an issue they probably know little about. If this was a US event or LGBTQ, it'd be one thing, but it's not. I'm sure she cares-we all care-but she can't exactly contribute something insightful. It was trite and moderately cringe-others celebs were far more cringe and some were better-but it is what it is. Turning it into a competition of what celeb said this or that and who was better is cringe itself, and some readings are pretty ungenerous and just focused on the smiles aspect versus the prayers. Um... I think Will Smith is a clear frontrunner now that he's been sweeping left and right and it's obvious the Academy will play it safe.
