Ofc Dua is sharing this. Would expect nothing less from her considering her opinions overall and her loving nature. She does what’s right and not what’s “cool” to do. I’m so glad they are speaking out and I hope this won’t stop here. I hope more celebrities will speak up.

It spreads awareness about something. It’ll influence fans to speak about it and Ukraine is literally under attack like-

You think Putin cares what Miley and Dua or any other celebrity think? It spreads awareness that some of their fans might not understand is a big deal surrounding the world at the moment.

I think it’s a good thing

As a Ukrainian with family in Ukraine, Gaga better speak up about this. Ukrainian monsters are watching. And yes time matters. This is what Gaga stands for. where’s your voice. Don’t go quiet

Again, she will, but it's not like her tweeting 1 thing will change anything. Sadly that's in the hands of the governments.

Celebrities don't spread awareness to the world or the general public. They're just spreading awareness in pop culture fandoms and it's mostly preaching to the converted. Contrary to popular belief, celebrities' Twitter or Instagram updates don't have that much power in this awareness issue. Teachers and news media have to do that.

But I'm glad celebrities are expressing their concern as human beings. Hope fans would be involved in the issue. However, little monsters are one of the most, if not the most, politically conscious fandom. So the discussion is already happening here, I guess.

Also, Gaga does more important things than updating Twitter or Instagram to use her voice. Please don't turn this thread in a smear campaign against her. :ladyhaha:

"Conflict" there's no conflict, Russia government is fascist, it aligns perfectly with the tenets of fascism in all written textbooks

This just isn’t true. Twitter yes, but Instagram is huge. Miley has 160M followers, Ariana (who posted about Ukraine yesterday) is the most followed musician (and like Top 10 overall) there and has almost 300M. There’s no way that’s just “pop culture followers”. I just went to check and I have dozens of mutuals who know nothing about American pop culture following her, probably because they liked “7 rings” or something.

Also it’s not just about spreading awareness. Miley filmed her best music video in Ukraine just a few years ago with the help of local communities, this war is personal for her too.

I do agree with this though. I remember people trying to call Gaga out for “not doing enough” for COVID relief only to find out that she had been quietly working on putting together the biggest charity concert in history.
