Welp. So this is random, but I had a friend who taught English in Kazakhstan for a few years and he loved it there and kept in touch with people from the region. Apparently it's an incredibly beautiful country (a massive country, so I'm sure some parts are ugly though) and the people were so kind to him. He said there were horrific protests a few months ago that Putin helped the dictator squash...anyway, he sent me the below tweet and said apparently this isn't the first he's heard of something like this going on...Putin's a madman and it honestly sounds like he's not going to stop at Ukraine (there have been rumors about Moldova, too).

In the 9th day of war, Russians seem to plan to make advancements in southern Ukraine. Vozneskensk (city in Mylolaiv oblast that hosts a nuclear central) was attacked by airborn troops.

A future invasion of Odesa from the sea (and land??) is likely, especially if Vozneskensk is taken. There is heavy fighting in all major population centers.

Its oke i get were you are coming from its great that the russian media is reporting on this it shows that there is still some form of freedom but its sill sad and ridiculous that children got detained for showing that they are against the war i salute these children for their bravery

Something that everybody needs to consider now is that the war isn't only fought on land, air or sea, but also on the Internet. There is an iformational and pshycological war going on and we all take part in it.

That being said, an alternative to maps showing huge territories of Ukraine under Russian control is only showing the area they have under effective control. The Russian army doesn't have effective control over the countryside, natural landscape and the general area around the places they placed troops in. 

Whenever you see a map where immense stretches of land are shown as Russian-occupied, keep in mind that in no way every kilometer of those can qualify as under Russian occupation.

I hope everyone is prioritising their own mental health  what is going on is awful, truly horrific, but for that reason try not to be obsessive - it’s only going to make you feel worse and it does nothing to change what is going on.

In a statement issued after the French and Russian presidents spoke by phone, the Kremlin made clear its goals included the demilitarisation and neutrality of Ukraine.
