I was wondering what you guys thought about this. Do you wish she went more acoustic with the production, or do you wish she was more electronic with it?

I sometimes wish songs like Ayo, Diamond Heart, Come to Mama had similar structures to how she performs them live.

It should have been more rocky imo like bring out some heavy metal like perfect illusion. PERFECT FOR SOME HEAVY GUITAR

if every song on the album would have been stripped back acoustic production, it would've lost all its personality and what makes it special, so no, it's just perfect

Imo her production outside TFM and BTW are too simple. Joanne and Chromatica specifically could use some more layers to make the replay value higher :bear:

i agree they're the most simple production wise, but anything else wouldn't be natural or make sense for the ideas and concepts behind those albums and what she wanted to come across, that's my take.

Ayo live with the backing vocal layers on the second(?) and final chorus give me life and I wish there was more of that on the studio version.

excuse me no

I just feel like sometimes the production on this album (which by the way, I am not a Joanne hater. I love this album) is a little too simple and it could have just a few more small elements and production changes to give it that little bit of oomf. That's all it needs honestly. It just feels it's missing something sometimes.

I felt the same when listening to Solar Power. I understand the point is the stripped back and simple vibe, but it's just missing the elements it needs to be GREAT rather than just good.

well, i think that a-yo, john wayne, perfect illusion and dancing in circles give it that spice and at the same time not being so out there that loses the cohesiveness and that distinctive western/country esque soundscape

Joanne may be my Gaga's top #1 album, but I feel like it surely would have been better with more layers and structure in instrumental. Songs like A-YO or Diamond Heart are good, but can be better. Only Angel Down and Perfect Illusion (Maybe Hey Girl too) are perfectly produced. Some of her live songs from the Dive Bar toursare much better than the studio ones especially Sinner's Prayer and Nashville's Million Reasons. I wish the production of the album sounded more full and go all-the-way-rock/country like A Star is Born with elements of Joanne-ness in it.

Still my least favorite album by Gaga. Never really got into the general feeling, production, vibes from it. Not because it's Americana folk / country influenced. I just feel ASIB is doing the job far better as a pop / folk project. Just my opinion though

I would love Gaga and Ronson to work on something else totally different in the future (maybe on something a bit more pop, funk, house ?) He's a great pop producer.

It's funny but I don't listen to TFM or BTW that often 'cause I tend to think they're noisy :bear:

Joanne is perfect for me :gayhat:

Chromatica falls a bit flat though but I've griped about its production enough :ladyhaha:

A masterpiece that's overlooked far too often :bradley:

I agree with your other points too but honestly all her songs sound better live. She fills them in with rock elements so of course they're going to hit harder :rockstar:
