Z's freaking out because US commentary is hurting Ukraine economically, but he's also begging people for weapons and money so it's pretty obvious he thinks they are in trouble. But for real, massive amounts of Rosgvardia have been moved to 20-40 km (15-20 miles) of Ukraine's border. That's a horrible sign.

Considering that a big chunk of the population considers themselves Russian and the fact that Russia actually began in Kiev, Ukraine I am not shocked A lot do not consider themselves Russian though even if they speak the language. If anything, ironically Putin's 2014 invasion has driven more to embrace their Ukrainian identity when Putin thought they would be embracing Russian identity. Many view Russia as a colonizer (which...it technically is). TBH Russia is/was just as big as a colonizer as the US (though UK will always have been the worst colonizer) when one considers Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Georgia, etc.

LilyLark 10,213
US won't do anything but put some troops in surrounding NATO countries (not Ukraine). There's no way Biden will put actual boots in Ukraine besides training some people before war starts. I mean, right now there are 8500 US troops in NATO countries and at least 130k Russian troops on the border of Ukraine. I'm sure the US will put heavy sanctions on Russia and supply weapons, though. I'm not even a Biden fan and I acknowledge how aggressive US has been in the past and I don't think they or NATO are entirely blameless...but Russia is the clear aggressor here. And while I don't have much faith in Biden, I can't see him putting boots on the ground after getting everyone out of Afghanistan. I DO think this is going to be a very big deal in Europe though and other European countries will get directly involved and this might blow up into a massive war. Every. single. Time. Russia is the aggressor here. Russia has been warned countless times since 2014 not to invade Ukraine. Ukraine is it’s own country now. US and the West have warned them over and over not to invade. If Russia invaded, Russia is the aggressor.
alfio 97
I really just don't see the point of invading a poor country with 44 million people whose 33% is living in poverty who clearly hates you. Sure, Russia was adamant on Crimea in 2014 because it's very strategic, historically linked to Russia than it is to Ukraine, and the access to the Black Sea is worth every sanction. But US is making this unnecessary panic today that even the Ukrainian president pointed it out. I'm starting to believe that Biden wants this war because he lost at Afghanistan and the Dems will lose grip in the midterm elections if there is no war that US would be painted as a hero. Russia has sent 70 percent of the necessary amount of troops to invade Ukraine to it’s borders. You don’t see that as a red flag? Ok.

Scary, sure. But Invading Ukraine is still not worth it, especially economically. But keeping Ukraine under Russian influence would but that is not to be obtained by invasion, because other countries will surely help Ukraine hold on to its sovereignty. Also, an invasion would just make look Putin so dumb, really. You can think of more recent events like the protests at Hong Kong. They said it would be a Tiananmen Square 2.0 but China just held a standoff because a bloodbath would make China look worse.

Gabi001 2,470
This is clearly not US's fault. Russia is trying to restore it's controlled area from soviet times. They are threatening other countries that if they join NATO or EU, they will attack them. They are even insisting that former USSR sattelite states (like my country, which was occupied by Russia for 30 years) that are already in NATO should leave NATO. Basicly, Russia can't stand that countries they used to control in past decide their own fate now and want to be part of the West. Also, many European countries borderign Russia are begging for US and NATO troops on their land, because they are afraid of Russia (most of them have experience with Russian agression and attacks in the past) I'm not having fun tonight.
