Jermaine was jealous of him, made a lot of diss songs about him, Latoya was a mess, and ruined his image even more in the public (even tho she was forced by her husband and was in an abusive relationship). His father, well his father was his father, he couldn't move on from what he did, and they couldn't have a normal rship. The fame probably isolated him even more

Mhmm and then you remember Janet having her own mega busy schedule? Makes sense

Basically just management keeping them apart. They were still tight and loved one another but I think Michael’s came really isolated him. And while yeah Janet also was famous from a young age, even that was nothing like Michael’s young fame. I mean, to be that young and the most recognizable of the Jackson 5? THEN to sell the best-selling album of all time? In an analog world, no less? No family can survive that kind of public pressure without a few things giving d that’s to say nothing of how some of the other siblings acted.

Janet was always on her own track which isolated her in a different way. Michael became isolated by circumstance and I imagine that was hard for someone who grew up leaning on his family during a turbulent childhood

Scream came out in the mid-90s, which was probably a controversial time for MJ with the accusations against him right? I'd imagine that combined with Janet's boundary-pushing sexual image, the marketing angle of a "sibling rivalry", plus what we know of how fame tears families apart (see: Britney too) was too much for their camps to have them bonding on-set.

Hey don’t say that :selena:The song is one of the greatest of all time, and the video is the reason half of this site’s favourite artists make the kind of videos they make.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

Like two.

I dunno, to me the video looks like a regular collaboration, solo scenes and scenes with both artists... it's perfectly logical to shoot solo scenes separately

I never really understood why MJ grew distant from his family. I'm sure he had people in his team whispering things in his ear or acting to please him. Maybe he didn't like that his family didn't agree with hid actions or he harbored some sort of anger towards them and didn't want hear whatever that wasn't in line with his views. Sort of strange he pushed his siblings away and became a recluse. Fame does strange things to your mind.

The dude had some family issues. He remained close to his mom and Janet but there was a LOT of bad blood when he made it as big as he did after leaving his brothers' group. Even before then, actually, 'cause Jermaine left first and MJ had solo projects as far back as the early 70s.

Jermaine even wrote a slam track called "Word to the Badd" :messga:

They all grew up in a severely disfuncional home so I'm not really surprised. It's one reason Michael was always seeking out surrogate families like the Culkins or the Cascios.

Though don't let this particular detail ruin the fact that he and Janet wrote Scream together and constantly supported each other personally and professionally

Scream was a direct response to the allegations and how the media handled them, actually. That's one reason Janet was so keen to help him out, she "knew he had something to say".

I mean, imagine being robbed of your right to a fair trial in a clear (and unfortunately successful) extortion attempt only to never see a single day in court because there was zero evidence of a crime being committed, not even enough to indict you. Then you flip on the news and your name is plastered over every 24hr news cycle calling you the worst thing imaginable. I'd Scream too :huntyga:

All Mike ever wanted with those cases was to have his fair day in court before being lynched.

Probably CG, which explains the huge cost of the video.

I love the song and Mv but I didn't knew it was like the most expensive video ever made, why was it so expensive? I didn't find anything that would cost that much in the video?

I will not watch House of Gucci

I think it was mainly due to the deadlines. They had like a month to make it. A lot of work days went into overtime and that's a lot of production crew, assistants (both Michael's and Janet's people), four choreographers, and a team of special effects artists to pay. The special effects cost a lot too - half a million on effects alone I think. Hell, their makeup alone cost thousands of dollars :messga:

Then there was like 10 different fully built sets, numerous high end guitars that were destroyed, other props, it all just added up on a short time table to amount to a TON of cash. Had there been more time to make it, I'm sure the price tag would be a lot smaller.
