Lady Gaga Receiving Criticism After She Spoke About Capitalism.

What people get confused about is that not every rich person is an evil capitalist overlord. Gaga has amassed a huge amount of money, but she has always been known to be kind and give back and look after her staff very well. She understands her privilege (she speaks about it often) and tries to use her wealth to give back to people. The capitalists who use and abuse the working class to fill their pockets with no regard for their humanity are the real swine here. We should be directing our anger towards them. Also pretty much anyone with a billion dollars + has sourced that kind of wealth unethically.

I get what they're saying, and to a degree they are right, but their anger is pointed in the wrong direction

There isn’t ethical capitalism lmao Gaga doesn’t have a simple in and out cash flow. Her money gets invested like so many other celebs and investments and the stock market? Those exploit working class folk without the means or education to invest well. There are MANY ways in which wealthy people contribute to exploitation and societal ills indirectly. For instance, Gaga doesn’t handle her money. She pays someone else to. Thus she herself likely isn’t fully aware of what it’s doing on a regular day to day basis.

If Gaga has a $300 mil-ish net worth, she did not purely get that ethically lmao there’s no way. You can get comfy with that or hop ship but that’s the t. You don’t amass hundreds of millions of dollars ethically.

Multi millionaires are seldom going to be paragons of virtue (which they aren’t obligated to be, to be clear). They might do good things like donate, sure, or stump for a cause, but they also exist as the ultra elite in society who, by nature of the system they’re in and where they are in it, exploit those beneath them. It’s the only way to sustain that level of wealth. Being where they are, they buy into that system, clearly. If you’re okay with that or not is your business but that’s the way these things are.

I agree with her statement, but considering how she's been operating recently she shouldn't be bringing up capitalism at all.

Capitalism is how things are. To be successful, you do it. That's it. End of.

Agree. Capitalism sucks but it’s what we have. It’s easy to criticize someone for making money but it’s the best platform gaga has to share her art. I’m sorry but no one is going to topple capitalism just like that. We need to be more realistic when talking about such big topics. It’s easy to say oh capitalism sucks and everyone who’s rich sucks. It’s what we have though and I don’t see it changing soon

We have no choice but to participate into capitalism and as soon as someone starts critiquing it, they’re labeled either a hypocrite or envious, depending on how much money they have.

There’s a much bigger problem at hand. We’re (the US at least) in late stage capitalism and it’s slowly deteriorating before our eyes (has been since ‘08) and everyone wants to act like everything’s fine. There are so many staff shortages across many industries because people are tired of their hard work being under-appreciated and under-paid while the people at the top rack in the billions. Add a pandemic to the mix and the stakes are higher. Risking death for pennies while the big ones can afford to hide. We need to change. It’s time to take out the trash :patrizia:

Coming from an ex-communist country, capitalism isn’t the worse devil of all. No system is perfect and we should strive to make the systems better as citizens, but at least capitalism works, unlike communism or other suggested concepts.
That being said, it sounds extremely hypocritical of her saying capitalism destroys women, while promoting her own make-up brand day and night.
I guess what she meant to say is she is against the discrimination embedded into the society, one of the main pillars of which is capitalism, but if she is against capitalism as a system in whole, then she shouldn’t be  promoting the system, benefitting from the system and being literally the face, representation of the system.

I've always felt like Gaga was raking in money (very obviously in-your-face all of a sudden) to prepare for bigger plans she has that are more focused towards charity and the betterment of society/people as far as her reach can go.

But I wonder if I'm just delusional or if she really has bigger plans in mind. She has always and consistently expressed how she wants to spread joy and make the world a kinder place, and I had those thoughts because I think she's becoming aware in this day and age music does not have the same impact on people. But I don't know, these are my random musings in hoping something better comes out of this.

That has nothing to do with the fact that she is a rich capitalist. People who are criticizing her didn't help raise 150 million because they aren't famous so if they go on Facebook and tell everyone to give money for Covid, no one aside from maybe 5 of their friends will donate $15. It's not like she personally gave $150 million of her own money LMAO. Helping to raise money by getting other people to give away $150 million is not philanthropy. LMAO. You're talking about this like it required some huge effort on her part or that she had to make some sort of sacrifice to raise that money.... ROFL.

Why are you so pressed lmao. If you know Gaga you know how insanely giving she is. We are all capitalists under this system, you’re not immune to critique rich or poor.

Of course money is meaningless to her, money is meaningless when you have hundreds of millions of dollars, you are one of the richest people in the world and you never have to worry about money or think about money in your life ever again. She put money into her shows and her fashion because she knew she could make the money back and turn a huge profit, that's literally what capitalism is, that's what every business person does, they invest and take risks so they can grow their business. That's literally what capitalism is. "She didn't own a home until she bought one in" LMAO so what? She didn't own a home because she didn't need one, she was on the road all the time, flying in her private jet, all of which cost of millions of dollars over the years, then she bought a multi million dollar mansion in a rich neighborhood like all rich people do.

"in fact all the messages behind her songs and her art are very anti-capistalism, cynical and satiric about it" She never talks about capitalism in her songs and even if that was true, it doesn't mean anything when you're one of the richest people in the world as a result of capitalism, that would just be hypocritical and cringe.

If Gaga was really against capitalism, she would share ownership of her comany like Haus Labs with all of the employees and everyone's salary would be equal to hers. How much money did she make off of her tours vs how much did her backup dancers make? LMAO.

You can't keep denying reality, it's so cringe. Gaga is one of the richest people in the world, lives a luxurious lifestyle and it is all thanks to capitalism. She's a textbook capitalist rich person like anyone else and that's finem that's how the world should work. She should just stop with the woke commie bullshit just to pander to her fans cause it's all lies. That's the truth.

Were talking about the same woman who raised 150 milion dollars for covid relief ya right she so evil no and she has to pay her workers somehow

Cameltoe Chariot

There is a huge difference between someone who earned every f*cking penny they have and worked themselves into the ground doing it, and a trust fund nightmare who was born a billionaire like Elon Musk.

Gaga did upwards of 4 shows a night sometimes, playing in Ikea parking lots and opening for the New Kids on the Block (:messga:), and destroyed her hip in the process. She earned that money and can do whatever the f*ck she wants with it as far as I'm concerned.
