I adore these two and like the song…but part of me feels she wants this to be her “Rain On Me” or “Prisoner” moment…

i actually think it is very comparable wit prisoner, but not with ROM, prisoner is basically a reworkerd physical the same way beg for you is a reworked cry for you too hahaha, and the lyrics had the same silly and uninteresting take on love, but i like beg for you much better than prisoner honestly.

Charli's music is pretty polarizing for me, but I'm usually a very consistent fan of whatever Rina puts out. I gave this song a listen to, and while I like Rina's verses and Charli's backing vocals, this song is really not doing it for me. I'm curious why it's become the song that has her calling for people to listen to it. Everything off of Vroom Vroom is superior to this song. Why is this the song that will allow her to put more experimental songs out, when she's always been an artist who has done this, especially following potentially what is her most experimental album to date? Re: Rina - Wasn't SAWAYAMA universally acclaimed with her music charting regardless? What does this song getting stream have to do with allowing her to make the music she wants to make? They both do it anyway.

well, while rina indeed operates in the mainstream, she's still niche artist, she still hasn't experience massive success or broke out in a way that she has a spot in the pop cultural zeitgeist, charli XCX while better known than rina has been the same, maybe she had her zeitgeist in pop culture with boom clap, but it wasn't that big of a hit really and also it was most about the movie than her as an artist, so maybe she thinks she has yet to live a big moment in pop culture, and i think that's fair.

I would have hoped for Good Ones. That song deserved to be a worldwide hit.

I like Charli, but September’s Cry for You is a thousand times better than Beg for You :bear:

Agreed. Pretty hard for me to love a song when the entire hook is sampled :cyanlights:

Is she claiming this new track is avant-garde? 🤔🤔🤔

no, what i understood she mean was that if beg for you hits which is a very commercial and generic song, that would allow her to have a platform in pop culture and then inject the mainstream with more "avant-garde" music like the ones that she and rina made before they "sell out" with this song hahah
