I love poppy’s music and her blend of sound. Even saw her on the I Disagree Tour, But when she got nominated I genuinely was confused. BLOODMONEY (my favorite on the album btw) is very Industrial and reminded me so much of the Breakdown in the Great Destroyer by Nine Inch Nails so I don’t get how it was nominated. to be fair tho, I think the Grammy categories are limited and should expand more. As someone who avidly attends metal shows and events with a tone of friends who do the same, we just never felt Poppy fell under the metal genre. I feel it is more underground techno with some like metal inspiration. I didn't dislike I Disagree, but I definitely did disagree with slapping the metal category onto the album. PERSONALLY, when I listen to metal, I am looking for theatrics, quality screaming and heavy breakdowns. Which is why I love Maria Brink so much and Courtney LaPlante. Some elements in certain songs aren’t metal, I mean most of her songs are a cocktail of basically all the genres lmao, but if we had to slap one genre onto I Disagree, I think most people agree that metal would be the most accurate. I’m tired and angry but somebody should be

Literally The In-Between is probably their best song and SHOULD have won for Best Metal Performance at Grammys. RE: Poppy - She is talented. And for an artist who has albums/EPs literally made up of noise... I look forward to seeing her build on the metal genre more if she decides to stick with it.
