thatfoxyfeeling 13,017
I’m living for the cinematic universe him and his team are creating for this album. He’s really giving us a full on conceptual album and era, the music video represents his ego there’s so much symbolism that reflects his previous era After Hours (notice the flowers)

I think in this video his younger self beating the sh*t out of his older self represents his regrets. How tho, wouldn’t it be more logixal if his older self beated his younger self? or am I misunderstanding it

In other words, you feel regret as you think your younger self would be disappointed/mad at yourself today.

Imo it’s more logical the other way around; older self beats up younger self for making the “mistakes” that he ends up regretting

But in my opinion, the other way is more meaningful in a symbolic way. Because your youngerself is appearing to you as regret. So you see him as your regret. Consider at the end of your life, you see your younger self. You would be scared thinking that he will be angry at you if you lived a life full of regrets. In the video, old man accept its fate and just surrenders the beating. Because he is letting go of feeling of regret.
