Rooney Mara has been cast in an upcoming biopic about beloved actress Audey Hepburn. The film will be directed by Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, of Call Me By Your Name fame.

This casting feels pretty logical, as Mara has been a Givenchy ambassador for a while now and Hepburn was well-known for her personal and professional relationship with couturier Hubert de Givenchy, who dressed her for many films and public appearances.

Mara is even the current face of the Givenchy perfume L'Interdit, which was initially made exclusively for Hepburn back in 1957, before being commercialized a few years later, making Hepburn the first actress to be the face of a fragrance. This casting reminds me a bit of when Audrey Tautou was cast as Coco Chanel in 2009 back when she was the face of N°5.

I'll be honest, I was really rooting for Lily Collins to get that role as I think there is an additional softness to her physique and overall persona that fits Audrey just a little bit better. But as I mentioned, Rooney being a Givenchy ambassador probably was a decisive element (it low-key secures the involvement of the house in the making of the film), and she's also more respected by the film industry so I'm not surprised Guadagnino, being essentially an indie director, would choose her over Collins.

Still, I'm a big fan of Rooney's and have no doubt she'll do an amazing job :applause:

Rooney Mara in Carol gave me Audrey Hepburn vibes so I feel like she will do well.

There's going to be a tragic movie about Marilyn on Netflix that all Marilyn non fans will think is the truth (it's based on a novel about marilyn and it's fictional) which is annoying. Then there's Chris Evans playing Gene Kelly soon but it's gonna be fictional as well, and we had the disaster of Kidman playing Lucy, now Rooney who looks gaunt playing the soft Audrey, makes zero sense. And we had Kristen playing Diana and it looked bad imo, so idk. Tired of all these biopics

basically my thoughts:

rooney mara is a great actress but exudes none of the charisma that hepburn did imo but i think if they do it the right way she can pull out something great

yes with Ana de Armas. And it will be very disrespectful too to Marilyn's miscarriages
