Arloway 147 Posted January 5, 2022 Share Posted January 5, 2022 Capri Hollywood got best actress right for the Oscar since 2016 with the exceptions of 2019 (Glenn Close) and 2021 (Sophia Loren). Glenn lost in a tight battle to Colman, and Sophia was not on the Oscar race last year but she's the greatest Italian actress of all time. I think this win says that Gaga do have international support, as she's also nominated by AACTA. But should we be concerned that THR removed Gaga from actress nomination prediction though? Penélope was snubbed by both the globes and the critics choice awards, and I don’t think she’s getting a SAG nomination either because they tend to be more populist. I can’t remember anyone who wasn’t nominated for a globe, CCA and SAG being nominated for an Oscar. Similarly, Rachel Zegler wasn’t nominated for best actress at the critics choice awards and she most certainly will not be nominated for a SAG either. If you are keeping up with the awards race then you’ll notice that Gaga is actually going up on many prediction lists. Variety, Indiewire, AwardsDaily, Goldderby—literally everywhere. Previously, she had a lot of momentum in the beginning but then declined as the race progressed. However, this time I feel like it's quite the opposite! Red wine, cheap perfume and a filthy pout.
