Would you all tell an effeminate little gay boy to just act straight if he were getting bullied at school?Ā :oprah:

no because homophobia is an actual issue.

So getting teased for being a ginger, a carrot top, a fire crotch your entire lifeĀ doesn’t matter because some other group has it worse?Ā

In that case why does homophobia matter when transphobia exists?Ā

You should listen the things/stories my coworker shares sometimes, name calling, stupid stuff that other kids did to him in school. He's ginger with a lot of freckles...it never occurred to me that kids could be so stupid and insensitive just because of read hair.

Anyways he is a confident guy in my eyes ( he is by far the most interesting and hot guy at my work lol), but i still remember him saying to me when he had his first kid "he has his mom dark hair" super happy, like kind off a relief.

Does anyone know where is the origin of this hate towards ginger people? I've never experienced in my town or at school in my country that someone would be bullyed because being ginger, but I heard it happens especially in western Europe. I'm just curious what is the motivation behind it.Ā

I'm not having fun tonight.

In my coworker case, i think it's because he was simply different, it's uncommon to find a ginger around where I live. So i think the kids just pick up on him cause he was different. But i remember someone from the UK sharing it here, why theĀ  hate twords gingers and it had some history attached, but i can't remember it.Ā

I'm not from Europe, but even I, as an American, was aware of the stereotype that red heads were supposed to be frailer and weaker than others.

I googled the origin of the term "red headed stepchild," an American phrase, and this was one of the results:

World Wide Words: Red-headed Stepchild

"There are several threads to the origin of the term. A red-haired child born to a family of different colouring immediately caused questions to be asked about the morality of its mother andĀ stepchildĀ here may indeed have been a euphemism forĀ bastard. A true stepchild in a family frequently suffered physical abuse from the children and parent to whom it was unrelated. Add to this that red hair was uncommon enough that any person with it was distrusted and disliked, being thought ill-disciplined, and a red-headed stepchild risked double jeopardy.

Some writers have suggested that it’s specifically the result of anti-Irish feeling in the US, some Irish men and women having red hair. I can’t confirm that."

This thread demonstrates a lot that is wrong with social issues right now. Apparently Ed's experience of being bullied is minimized and questioned simply because he's white. I suppose having colored skin is a requirement to be a victim these days?Ā To make things even worse, a bunch of you respond by making ginger jokes.

Imagine if this was a black celeb talking about being bullied for having cornrolls or an afro. 3/4 of the replies here would be considered racist. Imagine making black jokes when Zendaya talked about issues people had with her hair in the industry.

I've witnessed redheads and ginger kids being bullied growing up and I still see it online. As someone who was bullied for other things growing up, the emotional trauma stays with you for life.Ā

Most of you here should know better from your experiences being a member of the LGBT community.

So many of you are just saying that he should just dye his hair, like the hair is the problem and not the bullying in our sh*tty society.

It's so crazy to see how intolerant and superficial people can be that most likely also experiencedĀ at least some kind of mocking if not also heavy bullying in like High School or whatever.

People makingĀ you hate aĀ part of you, so much that you don't want to see it anymore is a horrific experience that might result in trauma, and not something to joke about.Ā

You're hair is part of your genes, part of your identity and most likely also your family, it should be something you enjoy or even be proud of nothing to be bullied for.

This is in no way comparable to racial issues, but I can only imagine how these people might feel. But just because others have it worse, it's not like you're not allowed to talk about your experiences.Ā

trust is like a mirror, you can fix it if it's broken but you can still see the crack in that ************s reflection.

"Just dye your hair" you're all just confirming that you find ginger hair ugly otherwise the answers would be "no, he should just embrace it, people are just jealous".

I think historically it was just because it was different, and it was associated with people being witches etc.

What is funny and unsurprising are the users that are writing essays crying ā€œwhite people can be oppressed tooā€ are the same users that are subliminal racist and minimise racism /Ā oppression of POC. It is giving All lives matter energy. Yikes

Ā

On topic: kids get bullied for everything. Hair color, height, weight… but saying SP is the reason is just dumb and reaching for a reason to play as a victim after all his bad character and narcissistic behaviour.

COME ON GAYS!!
