It's like that everywhere in the US at least. My husband did a story (he's a reporter for the local news) on that today about how you can't get a test for like a week. And stores are sold out of the at home tests.

In my country were hitting around 20,000 a day now which may not seem like much but its by far the most weve ever had and they are talking about how thats no where near the real number as testing capacity is full

Many ppl simply arent bothering to get tested even if they are symptomatic given wait times

As such a huge number if cases arent being registered

If you're vaccinated, by the time you get tested you may not even test positive.

I live in San Antonio and anywhere you have to get an appointment is booked for the next week, I went to a drive-thru testing site the other day and even though I showed up 15 minutes before it opened, there was a line curving around 2 blocks, it was a 6 1/2 hour wait until I finally got my test (I passed with flying colors :fatcat:). All at home tests are sold out here as well. The only places that dont have a large wait are the ones that dont publicly advertise at all and are only known by word of mouth/people who see them passing by in their cars.

Hopefully the news is indeed good but weve known for sometime theres a 7-10 day lag in infections and hospitalizations

Id give it a few more days before throwing up the fireworks :enigma:

That's why I put "potentially good news" and "tentative proof" in the OP

In other news, my co-worker decided she will get her second shot but everywhere here is so booked with vaccine appointments that she was unable to :flop: which I guess is also a good thing? Vaccination rates are going up too

The association reports 2,075 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, compared to 17,121 reported on Aug. 23, when delta reached its peak.

Hospitalizations are up to 4,001 now :flop:

I believe the data from the OP is from the 23rd (though I'm having a bit of trouble making sense of the timeline so if anyone cares enough to correct me, do so please).

If that is right, then hospitalizations have doubled in a week :bradley: however, that's still an improvement on delta's ratio of cases vs hospitalizations. So far.

Let's keep watching. This hell hole state can be the control group for totally unmitigated omicron spread :emma:

I just mean i wouldnt even call it potentially. Because of the lag theres no way the increases would lead to increased hospitalizations immediately so the way i see it this data so far means absolutelty nothing. At least not for a few more days :laughga:

However data in other places that got a surge earlier does support this so far. So id point to those and so far its more or less promissing

Edit: i guess omicron made hesitant ppl rethink vaccines or did some policy or mandate cause that?
