Love Katy but I don’t like this approach she takes when she promotes a new song, like she’ll only continue on if there’s chance of a chart hit

I instantly thought about this quote too. This is extra sad considering the fact that there was actually no demand for that album and she had to release it anyway :cryga:

I mean, Smile isn't all dance bops.... sonically the album doesn't sound like When I'm Gone, it sounds more like Electric - that self-empowering style bop, Smile was an album full of that style. When I'm Gone is not that at all.

But after Witness' reception fans were asking for more Teenage Dream and PRISM, and she went for exactly that, yet failed. Happens a lot when an artist is sold to the public's demands like that; they loose their way.

Not gonna lie, this “if people like the dance stuff I’d be willing to serve up more” disappointed me... Like, she still misses the point, something far from hair color... :noparty:

I really don’t think she ever tried to go back to Teenage Dream or Prism. From Witness nothing sounded like those eras and I think that’s what fans would want from her

I think she keeps bringing up dancing and dance related music because she’s dancing in the music video, which she usually doesn’t do. I think the last time there was an official dance section was California Gurls, no?

I thought it was clear no one was here for her dance music when 365 flopped :billie:

it's not supricing she's talking this way at all, katy was never an artist of vision and determination.

I'd of course love a new album, but if she (or her stans) think going "back to black" means a guaranteed return to chart success I... and what does that say about her talent?

it's a bit strange that she's not capitalizing on the resurgence of pop rock genre, her debut One of the Boys had that kinda sound if I'm not mistaken.
