So could Congress and yet neither of them are doing anything. At least Congress has the power to make CHANGE rather than just scrap debt for a select generation and let those starting college this fall rack up debt and let the cycle continue... I would bet this is just getting dragged out for a boost in midterms. Come May, he’ll probably push it out again. Then around September/October Dems will start pushing for a full or partial debt cancellation to build buzz for midterms. I should have taken advantage of the 0% interest for the last two years. But, I can pay 3 of my 14 loans off in full by May. So, that will help some. It’s pretty much a certainty. But they need any boost they can get, so I could definitely see focusing on loan forgiveness being a tactic for that.
