Nelly Furtado has at least 2 huge eras and Loose especially is still getting listened to today. Avril Lavigne’s legacy is still referred to today too. oh cindy, tina, and aretha are definitely good additions! Added lana doesn’t have a grammy or a #1, or a successful mainstream era for that matter lorde i would consider, but i dont know that i’d consider melodrama a successful era, and i dont see her having one in the future keep in mind, i dont think this list defines artistry at all. it’s just charts/sales/relevancy based. pink’s music is basic as **** but she has the MPG success

We as Gaga fans are the generation that grew up to I'm Like a Bird, Say It Right, Cool, Big Girls Don't Cry consistently playing on the radio. Not to mention Shakira how hugely iconic and succesful worldwide was Shakira. 2 hours ago, FfFfFfFF said: Also if Billie Eilish and Cardi B made the cut, I don't see why Doja couldn't. Say So was on par with Billie's biggest hits and she has so released so many widely known songs in a short time, and they are both on their second album. Plus, her music is way more pop-oriented than Cardi's. 1 hour ago, Frank Potion said: Basically every pop girl who didn’t flop should be on here. So yes as someone said above Cyndi should be in gen 2, I would put Kelly Clarkson in gen 3, as well as Fergie Gwen and Nelly… those 3 WERE pop music at their peaks. Shakira is also definitely missing. Tinta Turnter. SHANIA TWAIN. Nice try I guess. Better luck next time. let’s not act like olivia rodrigo doesn’t deserve a place on this list lol, she has one of the biggest debut eras in years, easily on par with One Of The Boys or The Fame. Miley has had consistent success and relevancy, and she fits my criteria. cindy and tina turner are good additions, so they’re noted doja is amazing and has a lot of potential, but it feels like she still has a lot of untapped potential and has something to prove. if she can get another solid solo hit, i’d definitely add her i can see why gwen would be added, she does technically fulfill the criteria. i think the only problem was that she was unable to achieve longevity, but then again the same could be said for katy perry and paula abdul…gwen will be considered but fergie only has one successful solo album and same with nelly kelly clarkson and shakira havr patchy careers, they get a hit or two here and there but lack consistency

Dr Fudge 8,635
Let’s talk about Gwen though. Even if she doesn’t meet all the above criteria, I think she definitely deserves to be on the list because of how accomplished she has been between No Doubt and as a solo artist. Don't Speak Spiderwebs Rich Girl Hollaback Girl Sweet Escape All of these ^ have had PROFOUND impact in music through the 90s and 2000s. Of course she’s had other great songs too, but these are all such well known anthems… Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years. JanStan 574
IMO MPGs is an irrelevant term and is nothing more than a revolving door of current pop stars. They are always changing. Then there are LEGENDS which is a completely separate group and to call them MPGs is beneath them (Aretha, Madonna, Janet, Celine,Mariah etc.). Legends have stood the test of time and will always be referenced by artists literally decades into their careers. By this definition there are some current MPGs that will be considered legendary at some point, but their true impact (not their commercial success) hasn’t been seen in future generations as of yet. I would put Beyonce, Taylor, Gaga etc in this category. Current MPGs like Dua, Ariana, Billie, and Olivia don’t belong in the same groupings as any of the artists previously mentioned.
