Versace 8,081 Posted December 21, 2021 Share Posted December 21, 2021 The spike in cases is extremely frustrating, as someone who has been overly cautious for the last 2 years and only since this October have I been letting loose, it sucks that I’ll probably have to self isolate once again. I have family members I live with who have compromised immunity due to asthma and diabetes, so I can’t be selfish. Also, I hate to be negative or just straight out complain but really it’s the human in us and at times you just wanna talk about it instead of losing your mind. It’s not like outside this virus, all of us lead perfect lives. We all have something we’re already dealing with and the pressures of a constant state of danger, death and disease makes life quite grim, no matter how bright we try to paint it. I just wish we can have a single covid free day, something we took granted since forever and it saddens me as a person in his early 20’s that my youth is being suspended. I know many people have it way worse but that’s the thing, neither I or those around me seem to be living, as much as we’re trying to survive. What I mean is Delta was exponentially more contagious than the original variant but just as deadly. Omicron is exponentially more contagious than Delta and so far it looks like it's only slightly less lethal, though this recent study says it's too soon to say but there are no signs of it being any less deadly yet. I'm not a virologist but I'd say having a virus get magnitudes more contagious and developing a vaccine resistance while only falling slightly on the lethality scale is far from ideal Remember, it's only been actively spreading in the US for a few weeks now and in that time we've learned that it can get around double vaccinated people (get your boosters ) and we've seen case counts and hospitalizations explode.
