jaXXXon 1,524
Enjoyed it SO MUCH. It didn't even feel like 2.5 hours. There was something going on constantly. Easily the best Spider-Man movie in the MCU and on par with Spider-Man 2 for me right now. I'd even go to say that it's a Top 3 MCU movie (Endgame, Infinity War and No Way Home)
androiduser 7,438
Can I watch it and understand everything or at least most of it without having watched any of the previous movies?

You need to at least understand the spider man films from Tobey and Andrew cause their villains are in it… so it’s more spider-verse heavy than MCU heavy. Reality 71,929
FINALLY GOT A CHANCE TO SEE THE MOVIE TODAY! I just got back home an hour ago, and I'm really still processing the whole thing. I'll try to talk about as much as I can without going completely overboard lol [This is me from the future after I've written out this post. Sorry lmao] SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE MOVIE!! Spoiler Firstly, Tobey & Andrew were both great. I loved both of them, but Andrew was a real standout. Honestly, I think he does a better job here than he does in some of his movies. When he caught MJ, I got really emotional. Seeing Tobey back was also freaking incredible. He really did feel like an older/more experienced version of his Peter Parker. It was also nice to see those Spideys react to their respective villains (though I do wish Tobey got more time with Goblin). As for the villains, WOW! Dafoe and Molina were the two standouts for me. I loved that each character really did seem like they were pulled from their respective universes. None of the villains missed a beat imo, but particularly Dafoe and Molina. Molina's Doc Ock was amazing to see back and I loved his banter with Peter as well as his few conversations with Goblin. The bridge sequence was spectacular! Imo, it didn't rival the train sequence in Spider-Man 2, but I was completely fine with that. It didn't need to. It was a great sequence nonetheless, and it was just incredibly fun to see my favorite Spidey villain back in action! Goblin, though, was spectacular. Dafoe only aged into the role and the fight scenes with him and Tom's Spider-Man were intense and grueling. I loved his shifting personality, especially in that earlier scene with him smashing his mask. Electro, Sandman, and Lizard were fine. Imo, they weren't amazing, but they were certainly fine. Sandman was a pleasant surprise though. He was fairly active in the film, which I wasn't expecting. It was nice hearing that Miles reference from Electro, though! Now Aunt May...boy, was that difficult to watch. I don't know if anyone else feels similar, but most of the time, I rarely connect with death scenes. They never seem realistic or they always seem overacted. However, Marisa Tomei knocked it out of the park with that scene. It felt realistic, and it was incredibly emotional. I definitely teared up and I felt the pain, sadness, and rage that Peter felt in that moment. It was certainly one of the highlight scenes in the film, and certainly one of the most emotionally impactful scenes in the MCU. As for MJ and Ned, they were great. MJ and Peter's relationship was great to witness. Prior to NWH, I believed that Garfield's Spider-Man and Emma Stone's Gwen Stacey were the most infallible couple, but after this movie, I believe that title goes to Tom's Spider-Man and Zendaya's MJ. Their final goodbye and their "reunion" back in the coffee shop was especially emotional. I understand that this movie, in a way, was a way to soft reboot Tom's Spider-Man for new stories and a new cast of characters, but I really hope she returns. Ned was a lot of fun too, though. As a Filipino, I loved seeing him and his mother (or grandmother? I forgot which is it) interact lol. Also, are they setting him up to be a magic user?? Strange seemed surprised that he was able to use the slingring. I'm interested to see where that thread goes. Last, but certainly not least: Tom's Spider-Man/Peter Parker. Honestly, throughout this entire trilogy, I've never really had an issue with Tom's Peter Parker being "Iron Man Jr." as a lot of people like to call him. However, this movie removed Tom's Spider-Man from Iron Man's shadow. This was Tom's Spider-Man's movie and it was important for that to be the case. He's really just growing into this role and I absolutely love it. He was funny and witty, but also played the emotional parts incredibly well, which is what a good Peter Parker/Spider-Man should be. I know a lot of people were concerned in the beginning that this movie would just be fan service and that it would neglect Tom's Spider-Man, but this movie proved (along with others like Infinity War and Endgame) that you CAN have a good, character-driven movie with fan service. It's not an either/or. It can be both. I'm excited to see where Tom's Spider-Man goes next. [ALSO THAT NEW RED/BLUE SUIT IN THE END??? HELLO?? I'M SO EXCITED FOR THAT!] Overall, this movie was nothing short of astonishing. I seriously do not have any problems with it. And if I did, they'd be minor ones at best. This is legit a 10/10 movie for me, and it's currently battling Infinity War was my favorite MCU movie. Are you talking about Homecoming and Far From Home or the Raimi & Webb Spider-Man films? If it's the former, I think you at least need to watch Far From Home. Or at least have an understanding about what happens in that movie because it picks up right where that one left off. You don't NEED to watch the Raimi & Webb films, but they'll help your viewing experience immensely. Red 94,634
I waited my initial shock pass so I could think straight and my opinion is that it is amazing ( ) but Eternals still is my favorite Marvel movie of the year. It's in my top 5 tho. The thing that most stuck with me is Dafoe's acting, good lord, one of the best acting I've ever seen in a superhero movie, if not the best. I have something else to say but I don't know how to put a spoiler tag on mobile If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating. bionic 42,646
I watched this yesterdat. Spoiler The plot was VERY convoluted, much more than your typical Marvel film. Entire sections could be cut out if characters acted rationally. If the legal charges against Peter were dropped so quickly then the court of public opinion can easily be changed. Hire a PR agent Peter, don't cast spells. None of the characters are likeable. Peter 1 is willing to risk the universe (multiverse?) being thrown into chaos just so the lives of him, his aunt, and his 2 friends are made easier? I get it but its not a good look. MJ's nonchalance and ambivalence toward absolutely everything is grating. Develop a personality. Ned thought getting into MIT was realistic with his total lack of common sense and social skills? His teachers are not supporting him in the right way. Doctor Strange agreeing to help Peter instead of protecting the multiverse was beyond his normal characterization. Yeah I get he's cocky but he's not entirely reckless. Especially for Peter who he barely interacted with. The final battle was lame and choosing the Statue of Liberty was a weird choice. "Curing" the villains and sending them back to their multiverse surely creates several new new universes where each of them survive? (i.e. if Green Goblin survives, that's a new universe; Green Goblin surviving then changes the universe where Pete goes on to battle Doc Oc, but that's separate from the universe where Green Goblin still dies and Doc Oc survives ?) I feel they intended to kill Toby Spider-Man with the stabbing and test audiences didn't respond well to it so they reshot it. It was zero tension, zero payoff. To me, it reinforced Andrew Garfield as the most lovable Spider-Man trapped in the worst film series (duology?) buy bionic
