Magui 2,629
I think she was awesome in the role of Patrizia, i know I'm biased, but she blew me away, and if critics opinions have any value, she also got acclaim by them. So to me she truly deserves a nomination (if she deserved one for ASIB she truly deserves one for HOG), i didn't see any of the other movies/actresses that also gave great performances so i don't know how this works.... Hopefully she gets a nomination, in my eyes she went another step ahead in her acting game, it's like you think she is good, but she just goes and show you how good she can be
MOT 3,281
I believe Gaga is very likely to be nominated. I haven't seen any of the other movies, but I have seen HoG, and I thought she was outstanding in it. I would be very surprised if there were five or six better performances out there. Gaga has been praised for her performance in, say, 80% (is that fair) of serious reviews, and she has already been nominated for a few other awards (winning one so far). She is also a clear second favourite in the betting markets, albeit a long way behind Kristen. All in all, it would seem most unlikely that she won't get nominated. eunino 1,502
100% chances to be nominated 50% chances to win its pretty much clear at this point that Kristen is a frontrunner
elijahfan 26,685
A little off topic, but I always find it amazing how playing someone real will automatically increase your chances of getting award recognition. 4 of the favorites in the best actress race this year are in this situation. 50 minutes ago, Jnick81 said: My money’s on yes - she’ll be nominated. Talent, ratings and a growing support from her peers. It’s also a classic hollywood story of overcoming odds and achieving your dreams. The industry needs this ❤️ I also think she'll get nominated but let's not exaggerate, you make it seem like Gaga came from the gutter and went from rags to riches... She grew up on the Upper West Side
LilyLark 10,141
Scott Feinberg has had her on his list (and still has her on his list). He's famous for talking to industry people and his predictions are almost always correct. So...that plus the narrative (NYFCC (snobby critics) + GG + CCA) makes me think she has a 90% chance of getting nominated. Poland is a weird, problematic dude but he also has industry connections...and he thinks she is guaranteed a nomination. That said, I feel like she and Jessica Chastain are in the weakest positions. Even Alana Haim...(whom I like) has ties....Kind of makes me appreciate Nicole, Jessica, Gaga, Tessa, Jennifer Hudson, Kristen (who had industry parents, but like...regular jobs and not the kind that have sway), etc. more. Unfortunately, that's how the industry works... Frankly I'm super happy for Kristen in particular, I've always loved her as an actress and I think it's about time her peers realized it. The French gave her their Oscar equivalent 6 years ago for best supporting actress, what took you so long Hollywood?
streamstarcrossed 409
I think she’ll be nominated. I’m not fully convinced she’ll win. But I’m already growing tired of this debate though. Like are we going to have this conversation after every movie Gaga’s in? Lol. A lot of you are placing way too much importance on the Oscar anyway. I know the bragging rights that come with a win are cool, but it’s not so important that Gaga claim every nomination. She doesn’t need to prove or establish anything. Nite 5,739
I've no clue about the politics of it all, but someone on the oscarrace subreddit made a Scorecard of current nominations/wins: (from here) A nomination seems pretty likely? I thought Gaga did great to the point that I sometimes even forgot it was her, but I've also not seen any of the other films tbh
KORG 4,756
Yes. She has a great chance of winning, too, since it was a more dynamic role than Diana.
Guillaume Hamon 6,679
Gaga's chances to be nominated are huge but I'm afraid they'll use her for ratings then go for a consensual choice with a Kristen Stewart whose movie wasn't bashed like HOG or an established drama pro' like Chastain who many say should have won for several other performances yet. I don't see colman having an other win so quickly after her 2019 one and for Kidman the movie's reviews are mixed plus I don't have the impression she's perceived as the movie's savior the way Gaga is with HOG. Cruz is not having enough buzz so far and the academy focus more on Anglo saxon countries so I fear she'll get a nom'at best. Zeigler just arrived so I think they'll make her prove herself more before to give her the Oscar...

Except for Olivia, Nicole, and Chastain, all the others have no Oscar history. this can actually work in their favor. The Academy loves promoting new talent. MelbHawker 6,583
If she earns a SAG nomination, I’d say yes to an Oscar nomination.

She grew up on the Upper West Side Lets be fair, at 19 she moved to the Lower East side in a really shitty apartment she had 3 jobs to afford and a cocaine addiction to overcome, while dragging her piano around New York and losing a record deal, it IS kind of rags to riches, her childhood was bouji but she did go and live in the rags herself before anything happened

Gaga isn't a rags to riches story at all, even if she did struggle at one point, and she's kind of aware of that. There are multiple singers who sort of do the opposite....let's just say (and the song was clearly meant to be biographical, not fictional) I was cackling at a certain singer's lyrics about growing up with bills on the table while her lover grew up in glamorous, gated Beverly Hills. I like the song and said singer, but lol...her dad was a multi-millionaire and she grew up rich rich.
