Teletubby 150,893
ABBA filed a lawsuit to stop a British cover band known as Abba Mania from using that name. In a complaint filed with the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, lawyers for ABBA accused Abba Mania's managers of "parasitic and bad-faith conduct" by trading off ABBA's goodwill and cachet in promoting Abba Mania. ABBA said the defendants have ignored its demands to stop using Abba Mania on social media, YouTube and the abbamania.com website, or take its suggestion to use "ABBA Tribute" in a way that won't confuse people. ABBA's trademark infringement lawsuit comes amid a U.S. tour for Abba Mania, which calls itself "The Original Tribute from London's West End!". Abba Mania's website says "Abba Mania is in no way associated, affiliated, or endorsed by Polar Music or ABBA" in small capital letters. source "You b*tch!" ~ Rat Boy

That was actually how I found out about them in the first place and loved their music so I'm glad they were open to bring their music to 90's kids like me. RAMROD 110,039
When you're a legacy act and most people remembered you because of these cover bands, it is a bit messy to do this. What did they lose anyway? Are they afraid nobody will attend their scammy hologram concerts because seeing live performances even by impersonators always better? Like, their legacy lives on with these cover bands. The same with other big names such as Elvis and The Beatles. When was the last time people younger than 30 raving about ABBA in the non Mamma Mia movies context, before their comeback album, the way these same people do to, say, The Beatles or Elton John who are most revered, like how many times ABBA were on best ever band or albums lists by music magazines compared to these two names? Even their comeback album are not making much dent in most places except in their home country and The UK. Like, sure people know ABBA but do they really know ABBA? The fact is most people these days know ABBA from cover songs, and that including music from Mamma Mia soundtracks. IMHO you might over estimate how big ABBA is outside Europe. Especially with younger people. And I am not just talking about USA. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ hating pop music doesn't make you deep (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡

ABBA, Elvis, The Beatles are not still famous because of cover bands, but because they were so big that they're still everywhere, their songs still play on the radio, they're still talked about by people, in the media, they're a big part of pop culture... I've never seen a cover band of any of these, I don't know where that comes from. The only GGD member who can read / Credits to Celloo Deng for the profile pic!
