Olivia Rodrigo has explained why she isn’t playing bigger venues on her ‘SOUR’ world tour next year after tickets swiftly sold out.

In a new interview with LA Times, the musician has spoken about the decision to not immediately headline arenas, despite the demand for tickets being there.

“I don’t think I should skip any steps,” Rodrigo said, referencing the fact that the ‘SOUR’ tour will be her first tour ever.

Baby Queen, who will open for the US singer in the UK, also shared her perspective on the size of the venues. source

well that's too bad

one day she might regret not going straight to stadiums

i mean not even Gaga or Katy were this lucky to literally have the option to start in proper full stadiums, it would be an amazing career move

on the other hand, it would be probably too shocking and stressing for her but the fact that she could start touring this big since the beginning it what matters, she holds the power and have the ultimate saying on her career, good for her!

Fam, she is only 18. Y'all need to stop pressuring her to act like a proper Diva. Let her enjoy her youth for it is so short and will gone in a blink of an eye.

If theatres are her vibe right now for concert venues then so be it. This is her first ever tour, the pressure is already immensely huge. She don't need all these nonsense from y'all. Let her experience and move up naturally.

After all these major debut successes, she is here to stay anyway. It is very unlikely for her to drop from face of the Earth and never to be seen again.

She didn’t have to go straight to stadiums, but mid-sized arenas would’ve been nice. The venue in my city holds only 5,000 people I didn’t stand a chance :fatcat: but I am happy for the fans that will get to experience it. I wish I would’ve had the chance to see Gaga during the Fame Ball or TMB theater tour.

i think she should have done stadiums instead. you never know whether you can still sell in the next album/era. better get as many coins as you can when you are still popular. but kudos to her taking the time to grow as an artist

Love that for her! Staying cute, staying humble, not jumping straight into the deep end.

I love that she’s taking it all in stride!

Also why are y’all convinced she could sell stadiums this tour??? She’s huge & so talented, but she doesnt have the depth in her fanbase to sell stadiums yet

Mid-size arenas would probably be best and she could do a few random shows pre-tour.

But it’s up to her - she’s only 19

She is just starting... Let her enjoy the fame slowly. Small venues are way funnier and enjoyable than stadiums, you all know that :trollga:

Plus her set probably isn’t a normal length so these small venues are better for shorter concerts. Next tour I’m sure she’ll do arenas.

not a stadium tour for sure, but with 40k+ people in line for some dates for the presale… at least a few stadiums for sure 💀 which is insane. and i agree, i’m glad she’s taking it in stride because i think stadiums for her first tour would be WAY too much, but i am surprised she didn’t mix up arenas and theaters
