half the world still doesn’t have access to the first vaccines :rip:

Again, why is that my problem? I'm a teacher. I can't put my entire semester on hold because one person absolutely does not get the concept I'm teaching. I have to figure out a way to move on while also providing support to that kid. It's the same concept here. I'm sorry some countries don't have a vaccines yet, but that's not reason to keep other countries locked down and masked up.

You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.

Who said anything about locking up?

And wearing a mask is seriously NOT a big deal. I wear a mask at work every single day for 8 hours.

What is the fuss?? You’re a teacher so I’m sure you’re also masked the entire day.

Again, American individualism is a disease.

Not to mention that people from countries who don't have enough access to the vaccines will eventually enter your country and spread whatever new variant that appears. Then it will also be your problem. And ofc they can't close the airports because freedom!!!!

Literally no matter how you spin it, you and everyone else will be affected. Enough with the mental gymnastics. The way to move on is to mask up, get vaccinated, and follow health precautions like mask mandates because these are the only tools we have to fight the virus so far.

Soft, soothing, and succulent

Your analogy is bonkers sir.

A child not understanding a concept in school does no equate to a global pandemic with a deadly virus.

also, any apology that states "im sorry but" is not an apology

Precisely, 5 days a week from 6:45-3:00

The fuss is I wear them for work, so I'd like a little break :bear:

Yes, I think having to wear a mask despite being triple vaxxed is asinine. I'm just tired of being lied to by the "experts". Every other month or week, they're reversing course on their guidance and I (and many others) am tired of the inconsistency.

It's because of people who refuse to get vaccinated, that's the problem. I agree that it's not fair, but it has to be done in some places that don't require vaccine mandates until selfish unvaxed people actually step up and get vaccinated

I have asthma and a lung infection and a torn sternum. I wear my mask all the time since LA has a strict mask rule. NY residents will survive having to wear masks indoors too.

Seems like something that should be implemented in cities at least tbh. With how densely populated they are, masks should be worn whenever you're not home :messga:

Rural areas are...eh...but mostly Republicans live in rural areas and they won't mask or vaccinate regardless so who cares.

Whimsical bitch

I live in a state that used to have a mask mandate, and now we don’t. We have one of the highest Covid surges in the US. Our healthcare systems are overwhelmed. Now I am fully vaccinated, so even if I catch Covid I will likely be OK. Same for those close to me. However, if I or a loved one need to go to the ER, oops, I’m screwed because our hospitals are overrun with Covid patients. Elective procedures are being cancelled again. Schools are constantly closing down because of outbreaks. I can’t travel to Asia, which is essential for my work, because of travel restrictions there against countries like the US because our numbers are so high. We need to vaccinate more people, but in the meantime, I wear a mask to do my part in curbing transmission. I want this pandemic to end.

Please don't equate my username with logic in that that analogy.

Wow, I'm surprised it ever ended to begin with. It's still shocking to me how politized a simple mask has gotten especially in the US.

That's just it.  I can't believe we're still having to explain masks.

It's not because we're scared or because we want to protect ourselves, it's because we're willing to do a small thing because it helps.  We know it's not 100%, but it helps.

Mandates are necessary because the people who do the most good by wearing masks are refusing to do so.  I can't believe people are still using the, "you are free to wear a mask" argument!!

And the final reason it infuriates me is that the people crying about it are the ones who call everyone else a snowflake.

It's just annoying enough without having to listen to people bitch about it.  Just wear the damn mask and shutup.

It's kind of shocking to me that places with high populations and higher case numbers don't have mask mandates anymore. I've had to wear a mask indoors since July of last year.

I'm not sure how to respond without a WP but, at this point in the pandemic, I genuinely do not care about unvaxxed people. I'm tired of having my life inconvenienced to protect theirs when they are choosing to not do the simple act of getting vaccinated. Those who have certain medical issues that prevent a vaccination are one thing, but the rest. Sorry.

Wearing a mask isn’t even that “inconvenient.” People would just rather complain than do something simple for someone else.
