Nothing says “imperialism” like people in rich countries saying we need to “move on” when half the world doesn’t even have access to the vaccine and variants might emerge that make the vaccines available less effective :rip:

It’s been like this with everything so it shouldn’t be a surprise, I guess.

Americans' ability to turn anything into a discourse on 'freedom' and 'rights' is truly the most fascinating phenomenon of the century, I gotta admit.

What's fascinating to me is how other people in other countries are so casual about letting the government dictate their lives to this level.

You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.

And then they dare speak of freedoms and rights :air: It genuinely boggles my mind how the simple concept of "this is a worldwide pandemic that's not only affecting one person but the literal plan as a whole" is so hard to understand.

Because, to me, it shouldn't be my responsibility to protect others.

And this is the problem.

You should look into public health and why we have a societal responsibility to protect each other.

By taking individual measures you could be saving someone’s life. It will always have been worth it.

Nah, **** Cleetus and Billie Bo. I aint protecting them. i got the vaccine to stop the spread, and will continue to do so. Sadly, if we dont stop the spread, COVID can transmit to Cleetus and Billie Bo, who will then cause the virus to mutate, and make it a danger to me again.

Yeah my government telling me that i need to wear a mask because the health sector is collapsing and the virus is rampant and no one is able to contain it or control its mutations is totally authoritarian and infringing on my rights. What a horrible dictatorship we have reached! It's a literally piece of fabric on your face, not a tracking device or a sterilizing shot, enough with the drama omfg

So are we? I wear a mask, am vaccinated and am still living normal.

Where did the idea come from that people who actually care are locked up in their homes?

It'll never be a danger to us again because the vaccines will just be adjusted to fight it

But why let it get tot hat point. Again, those who are compromised may not even be able to get the vaccine, so letting this virus mutate and become more aggressive is nonsense.

Plus, its not a guaranteed that we will be able to successfully adjust the vaccine to fight it once it mutates.

If the spike protein mutates enough our vaccines will be significantly inferior.

It will take months to vaccinate everyone again, many will refuse.

And half the world still doesn’t have access to the first vaccines :rip:

Exactly.

What many of you guys dont understand is that this is a virus that attacks both our respiratory AND neurological system,s in our bodies. Why in the world would we want to live amongst this virus when we could easily eradicate it?

A much more resistant variant could pop up tomorrow and vaccines could be useless against it. Mutations are unpredictable and we cannot control how the virus changes.

And again, thinking that everyone has access to vaccines and that everyone is getting vaccinated all over the planet at the same rate is pretty privileged and ignorant. Many still don't have access to even one dose because rich countries are hoarding their "intellectual rights" and not helping poorer countries enough. Again, this isn't 1 country's problem. If a deadly variant pops up, poorer countries will be affected, but so will the USA.

I truly don’t understand why we can’t just work together to end this. Just do it.

Nobody WANTS to live with a pandemic raging forever.
