The Cure slander by this fanbase always gets me heated lol. Like yes it was very of the moment but it was executed so well with its sweet production and vocal delivery. It was like the Eh Eh of 2017, just a simple bop done well. Its not deep nor is it trying to be. It may not be in my top 15 gaga tracks of all time but it def does not deserve the hate either :fthis: she has worse songs and lamer singles a la... Perfect Illusion

I feel like you can’t count Eh Eh & Joanne. For the biggest music markets Eh Eh never was a single.. and Joanne.. somewhat of an extremely lowkey „for the fans“ rollout.

It always was Love Game for me until it started getting traction on Tik Tok every once on a while. Also I thought it could be Marry The Night, but I feel like people do remember this song better than you would expect from her first true underperformance.

Sadly it has to be either G.U.Y. or Perfect Illusion, both some of my fave songs by her.

G.U.Y. was expected, it‘s a very „fan-favorite“ album track that was just not very good as a single choice. But Perfect Illusion‘s underperformance was and still is mind blowing for me. One of her best singles, and her best vocal performance in an uptempo single I feel like. Also it‘s this song that feels like it should be played at sports events and I love to listen to it when working out. So how it didn’t work in her SuperBowl era is beyond me.

GUY was an obvious single choice imo, had it been released earlier or under better circumstances theres no reason it wouldn't have smashed. especially in a musical climate dominated by tracks like Roar and Timber lol its not like the general public would have caught on to or even cared about the power bottom "messaging" of the track as its general enough to withstand that.

Perfect Illusion was so abrasive vocally. She was shouting and also pronouncing her words in such a specific way that it was understandably jarring especially as a lead single. To this day I don't really get what it was trying to be aesthetically... the demo had this dreamy disco vibe but gaga mutated it into this diva vocal'd thing.

Maybe it’s just me but I feel like Applause, DWUW, Aura, Venus, Sexxx Dreams & Donatella all would have been far better single choices. I love love love GUY but I just can‘t see it as more than a fan favorite. Even through it actually was a single, which I keep forgetting.

And with Perfect Illusion, idk.. The vocal aggression is what sells it to me. Kinda like Aura. Whenever I listen to PI, like I said.. it‘s such a good workout song. And when I heard it at sports events it worked so well, gave me the same thing Linking Park songs gave me in that setting.
