Miley on the Grammys' snub of 'Plastic Hearts'

"Plastic Hearts" is her best album for sure, but still - it wasn't magnificent. Honestly, The Weeknd was more in the right than she is and I still criticised him. This whole crying in social media about not being nominated is such a clown behaviour. Who's gonna be next? Worldwide superstar pop sensation Normani?

She's a bit too full of herself. She makes bops once in a while but her attitude just ain't it

how is this having a bad attitude? :what:

people put so much weight on awards in the industry, especially fans. but the grammys are an elitist institution. i like the grammys, i think it’s a bit of fun, but we can’t act like it’s a fair or valid system, because realistically, it’s unfair to quantify art.

so, an artist saying “**** it, i’m good without one” us hardly having an attitude.

Sorry not sorry to say that Plastic Hearts was one of the best albums from 2020; and this is coming from someone who had never listened to a Miley album until that point. There is nothing wrong with an artist feeling bummed about not getting nominated for the industry award. I don't see this as whining or throwing a pity party. Some of ya'll are so rude.

You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.

wrecking ball song of the year record of the year

plastic hearts in rock categories

even her music videos are better than whatever gaga video behind the scenes is nominated for video of the year:toofunny:

Gaga is just a legend at this point so its only natural they shower her with acclaim and awards even with little effort shes just iconic, not everyone can relate

oh no, but it's an insecurity that shouldn't exists for artists in the first place, i know it's not easy at all, but this sense of validation by getting awards or not it's not good

So many surprising artists/groups on that list :udidnt: ABBA, Queen, Beach Boys, Diana Ross, Tupac, just to name a few...

Im not surprised about ABBA. They werent as huge in the US as they were in Europe and Oceana

I think in the US they only had 4 top 10s and big hits in their decade long career?

They are legendary because they were huge internationally... also because their music is considered so iconic and high quality and thus had longevity and were not forgotten

But at the time in the US there were many names bigger than ABBA so im not shocked about them not having Grammys tbh

well it would be great if everybody had that mentality but they don’t :/ people like feeling recognized for better or for worse  take gaga she rarely posts on social media but almost always takes time to post when she’s nominated for things. She clearly likes being recognized

If we are annoyed at Miley for caring about being snubbed bc awards/validation don’t matter, shouldnt we be annoyed at gaga for caring about being nommed? :oprah:

it's different because with gaga it always comes from a place of humility as she is grateful with every little thing she's aware of as it serves to honor her work, to know that she's even heard and appreciated at all by someone.
when she wasn't nominated for ARTPOP and joanne she just paid no mind as she knows her work and what she wanted to say no matter if it's appreciated at its time or by the critics or awards.
also it's very random, she send a video message to the brazil mtv miaw awards, and when she won with ROM at the grammys she didn't  knowledge it when even ariana herself tagged her cheering lol.
She cares very much and is honoured this time for what it means for her and to tony and to be nominated with a traditional jazz album in the main categories, she's just grateful she's heard at all.
The logic is you care when you're included because you're being honoured and that's being grateful, but if your're not nominated you just paid no mind, it doesn't matter as it's just the everyday and it's not what provides you validation for your art or what fulfil you as an artist.

It's very different from those who feel entitled to be nominated or think of it as if it provide some sort of validation to them as an artist, to prove themselves as artists and stuff
