I mean it’s really impossible to do the numbers before. Still an insane success.

Although I wouldn’t like and not say that I was expecting around 1M. Which honestly is still fairly reasonable for her. I just feel like this whole tentpole release marketing strategy thing they went with didn’t resonate well as much as they hoped. Major, selective interviews in news programs to reinforce that event album image. The lead quickly fizzled out too. It would’ve been more massive with a great lead not fizzling out easily

At this point it can either be frontloaded or have legs. Depending on how they play it and if there are viable singles. I really don’t care since Adele’s amazing.

The truth where Cardi B's wet ass *** can have a better debut nowadays then an anticipated Adele lead single. I know that's right.

Speak Easy

To me the test is actually in the upcoming four weeks.

Adele hasn’t just had a debut week in the millions, both 21 and 25 were consistent in high numbers for the weeks after. I think in 25’s fifth week she was still selling in the millions.

If 30 has a major drop off next week or the third week, to me that will actually show whether or not 30 has the power that 21 and 25 had.

I hate to say it but I doubt it will. Only because it is such an adult album and the young people are not gonna keep it around that long.

It could get a boost from holiday sales, but we’ll see!

Anyways, congrats to Adele for still having the largest debut in years without bundles! It will definitely be platinum by the end of its 2nd week.

Did 25 actually have that many bundle sales? I don’t think she had announced the tour by the time the album was released but I could be wrong.

huge success but it is a little "underwhelming" for Adele. No one was expecting her to do 25 first week numbers but I think 1 million was within reach.

This - 25 was by and large pure physical album sales. Everyone had the CD. And they withheld from streaming for many weeks. 25 was also her most commercial album to date. Hello was such a great introductory single to the record. I still love listening to it front to back. Every song is so well polished. 30 isn’t as commercial and I can’t see it having the same legs as 25. I like a few songs from it but the majority of the album isn’t resonating with me on a purely production level, but I see it growing on my lyrically. Almost lost my biscuits   listening to To Be Loved today. Love her and wish her all the success with it regardless. ❤️

Regardless its her last record and if theres any relevant comparison that would be it. Still she did great. Congrats to her!

Or if yall want a relevant comparison Red TV did 600K and was released last week and is also a 9 yeard old album. Adele might be bigger WW but by her next album if she doesnt have a huge hit I see Taylor surpassing her in the long run.

No. Adele's album is a 12 song set that did better than Taylor's 30 song set. This is a VERY big factor. Compare Red's pure sales to Adele's and Taylor loses.

Besides, final sales is what'll show you. Adele's 30 will presumably outsell every Taylor album since 1989 and that's almost a guarantee.

The Swifties are quickly turning into an annoying fanbase ever since Red re-release came out claiming that she has had more impact than Beyoncé when Bey literally changed the worldwide release day from Monday to Friday as per the IFPI and popularized the surprise release BOTH of which Taylor 'copied' with her last studio set (coming out as a surprise on a FRIDAY lol). They also said she has better sales per album when Adele clearly has her beat, better streams per track when Ariana clearly has her beat as well.

Her ARTPOP era I fear :koons: (people are going to compare it to 25 and say 30 flopped because it sold way less than 25)... :smh:

I'm not surprised about this though. The rollout of this album is a mess :fail: She didn't appear on any shows in the US for the entire week... No GMA, no SNL, no tonight shows... Nothing... They didn't even tweet about her new album coming out until Friday afternoon... It's tragic :smh:

i wouldn’t say the rollout was a “mess” exactly but considering One Night Only was on CBS i assumed she would make a few appearances on their shows, a spot on Colbert would have been cute
