On the surface, this seems awesome. But I feel this is a mistake. Gender based categories create an even playing field. Without them, women would never win anything.

Exactly. The women are the ones who will be worse off by this decision.

Will the Oscars etc follow suit? They really shouldn't imo.

thank you! like "best female pop album" and like that?

Yep! Gaga won one of the gendered awards before they were changed, the Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for Bad Romance in 2011.

imagine you are a non binary very talented chanteuse and with two actor / actress categories don't have a chance to win? let's try to wrap or head around it, society should aim for inclusivity.

it will not be easy at first but we can work it out.

I think when it comes to something like music it probably is enough of an even playing field these days to be able to share categories, it obviously works fine for the Grammys.

Not the bore worms!

so how about we just award women for their accomplishments? that’s the change that needs to be made

I think the person should choose which category they’d best fit in. There is no perfect answer here, but I have to defend the women who have defended gay rights for decades. They deserve an even playing field.

Yeah and in a male driven world that’s close to impossible.

Case in point: the genderless best director category at the Oscars has only ever had 2 female winners in 94 years.

Yep. History has not even kind to women. And I know there are more than 2 movies where a woman should have won best director! It makes me sad.

Ed Sheeran was 15 weeks at #1 on singles chart in the UK so it won't be surprising if he wins.

I don't understand why separate them in the first place. It makes sense in certain fields but not here. And if it's a question of some categories having less chances than others, then why just separate men and women?
