Nah she sounds 100% Italian that speaks English.

You just think that she sounds Russian because this is how Hollywood made you believe that the Russian accent sounds, but it's totally wrong.

How I know:

First of all my husband is Italian and we speaks English daily so I hear this accent everyday.

Second, There are many Russians in Israel so I heard their Hebrew and English accent every single day when I lived there, if it's in class or on the street.

Now that would be russian then, that's wrong.  Italians don't say "dough" - they don't say it loooong like that. How Gaga pronounced it was right.

 

The "o" in Aldo and Paolo or vowels in general (in italian) are spoken short.

Again with this... Lol. Even if her accent isn't perfect (obviously it's very hard to be perfect) or if some think it could be better she doesn't sound russian at all lol.

The O wasn't the problem in Aldo, it was the A. It should be like "Ah" or I said "Oll"  like doll.

She also said Paolo wrong, you pronounce the first O, It's not "Powlo" like she said.

There is no strict rule to how Italian accent would sound. I mean that there are tones of different versions of Italian accents coming from Italians.

I think she pronounced it quite right... not even all italians pronounce names the same way.

we can all tear apart every little word she says, but she trained for more than 6 months with a teacher. This is a big Hollywood production we're talking about and I personally do not think she sounds russian, because I have had to listen to russians speaking english with me for 7 years when I lived in Spain. I really know how they sound. (And Gaga does not sound russian at all - not even a bit)

True. Patrizia's accent does not sound super Italian to me, it is a bit ambiguous where it's from. I focused on the Italian names though because you would say those exactly how you would in Italian.

I speak Italian though and I can assure you she didn't. I'm not ragging on her at all. She sounds amazing. I just didn't notice about the names til now.

I also never said she sounded Russian... but I do think Patrizia's accent is a bit ambiguous and Gaga sounds just like her. Now, MAYBE, Patrizia says Aldo and Paolo the way Gaga did (because her accent has Americanized over time). In which case I will shut up.

Ok, let's agree to disagree.  I think she pronounced it absolutely right. In spanish u would pronounce it pretty much the same.

 

Aren't there any real italians on here who could tell us how she pronounced the names? (The thing is: We all still see Gaga and know that she usually speaks english, so we're all not used to this)

Actually, Patrizia's accent is rougher than Gaga's... Gaga does a convincing accent with a few minor mishaps, however, when someone is speaking a foreign language, their accent and pronunciation is not always exactly the same, even for the same words, so the fluctuations are actually accurate.

(I am Slavic, I speak fluent Italian and speak with Italians in both Italian and English on a daily basis)
