I saw it today and it was a pleasant surprise after the bad reviews. In my country is a lot of news and rumor about the English royal house and I can imagine that the family atmosphere is similar in reality.

Spoiler

For the most part, it doesn’t exist, only traditions hold everything together and the characters are prisoners of this situation.

The film was unpredictable for me despite the Christmas theme, as I didn’t know how Diana would behave in the specific situation and what would happen next.

Spoiler

I was expecting a big but restrained scene between Charles and Diana when she is announcing that she is moving apart / divorce, but that was not the case.

The film was interesting all along, but I don’t consider it to nominated for an Oscar.

Spoiler

Similar in structure to the Iron Lady, things alternate between "real" and Diana's imagination, but take place almost throughout the "present", apart from a few brief childhood recollections. Perhaps less scenes would have been enough describing Diana’s mental problems (eating disorders, initial hallucinations due to the pressure of the environment).

I think Kristen Stewart has a chance to nominated for an Oscar, but I don’t see her winning. The actors playing the members of the royal family played very poorly, fortunately they had only small roles.

Man I did not like this movie sadly! I thought Kristen Stewart did a great job, but the movie itself was very odd and just kind of a drag. After having seen House of Gucci at an early screening Thursday, I actually think Gaga did a better job overall embodying the character and showing you a full range of emotion! Spencer was just kind of flat and one note IMO

Just watched. Completely fell asleep in the first 30 or so minutes.

Understand what it's going for, though. You feel how trapped she was and how difficult that life was for her. It feels really claustrophobic and I now get why people describe it as a bit of a horror. Moments where she gets to be free though was beautiful! Over all not very enjoyable, but if you're into film craft you will appreciate the treatment the director was going far, the direction of the musical score, the cinematography, etc.

Kristen was good. Although some moments she really annoyed me. Might be the character itself and how it was written,  but could also be how she always distorts her face and tries almost inorganically to mimic Diana's movements?
