The dislike ratio informs new viewers how they should feel about the video before even watching it. And the dislike button is still used by the algorithm to tailor your own suggested videos. Which is really great if for some reason you start getting suggested videos that you find annoying or infuriating. There is also the phenomenon where people will mass dislike videos not because of the quality of the video, but because of controversial topics it may touch on, like LGBT topics. If the dislike count isn't shown, it will discourage people's "public" disagreement. They'll have to write a comment, and other people will have to scroll down and maybe see it. Dislike buttons are the least toxic way of expressing your disagreement online without verbally harassing an individual. Not everyone is happy and in agreement all the time, bad idea. It's also a good way to discredit megacorps when they announce something abusive to the consumer (i'm thinking on the nintendo switch online upgrade).
