Girl, I'm not being harsh, I love both Sophie's Choice and Devil Wears Prada. :ladyhaha: All I am saying is that Gucci will not be that one film that is universally acclaimed in Gaga's career and that I'm waiting for her next film to be just that because I care about reviews, sue me. I'm still excited to watch it, it will definitely be fun.

Your original post was harsh as though, sorry! :toofunny:

ASIB was universally acclaimed.. it was nominated for Best Picture. I don’t love reviews, because people take them literally & decide on how they feel about a film prior to seeing it but I enjoy reading through them all at this time of the year when awards releases begin.

well, Dune was simoultaneusly available on streaming and still managed to gain +353 million dollars at the box office, and it is still running

I can only say that from what I hear around me there is not a sigle person I know that is not going to see it (very appealing for al gender thanks to the subjet linking glamour and intrigue, and also for all generations, the elder are intrigued because of the subjet and the presence of popular actors will be a hook among the youngest)

Of course we don't know nothing, but I don't see it flop. Let's see how this post will age.

Sorry, now back on topic, on rotten tomatoes the critics are classified as "Rotten" and "Fresh", a critic that says "it's ridiculously camp, it's too long, but overall I enjoyed it as a crown pleaser" will be probably considered as "fresh" since it is not negative IMO.

Yes, but Dune had an (actually ingenious) strategy of saying ‘the 2nd part won’t happen unless the 1st does well’, so lots of people like me were determined to see it in cinemas.

I honestly don't know how many people are so devoted to the Dune franchise to plan something like that, it is a very popular novel series but it is not exacly Star Wars.

The word-to-mouth worked very well: I suggested myself to see the movie to a lot of people that didn't know almost anything about it and later they told me "I followed your advice, I have to thank you, it was great!"

this isn't Dune, it's not part of a franchise, it's a r rated drama of a not so well known family in lots of parts of the world... will be much harder to convince people to go out and see it (tho let's hope that the first ones to see it will like it and maybe good word of mouth will help it have legs!)

let's just have realistic expectations

When it grosses more at the Box office than ASIB and Gaga gets BA nomination first!

i think impossible in COVID time - supehero movies are struggling to cross ASIB box office-wise (ASIB is R-Rated) and with the COVID cases sky-rocketing i kinda fear cinemas will stay open for it to collect the gross it will get :billie:

I should have posted this here, instead of making a new thread, anyway

2 GoldDerby experts who have seen the movie, discuss the movie, Gaga and it's Oscar chances! Very insightful.

it'd be great to have the bad reviews listed here as well. everyone's calling it divisive but the tweets listed are giving me good acclaim vibes. because from what i saw here, it'd surprise me if it be less than 75% (rotten tomatoes) as they count the number of good reviews vs bad ones, and not the avarage of the scores themselves

There are severals saying it’s too long/ needs better edits, apart from that everyone seemed to enjoy the movie.

Tonight and tomorrow the first preivews will start for the general public - on 19th November the film goes live in Malta... by Monday we will have a good idea by what people think if we kinda don't already

The only complaints have been about the length or the editing. And its been pretty much universal acclaim for all the actors in the movie, especially Gaga and Leto.

There were only like 4-5 reviews, where they have completely bashed everything about the movie. And those reviews were given with a personal bias against Gaga as well.

I have been posting everything I can find. I’m not filtering out the bad reviews
