I'm no one to say anything but sonically AND lyrically its such a MASTERPIECE. I play it every day ALL DAY. When you pay attention to the lyrics + this interview, I can tell she wasn't in a good place.

You're annoyed with her for having ongoing mental health issues that don't resolve forever after one album cycle?

You'd rather she lied about what the experience of this album was like for her, than to speak her truth and try to help others who are struggling?

You think fans celebrating her past work is more important than her wellbeing?

I didn’t say her mental health issues should disappear after an album circle, but as a fan, I can only speak for myself, it’s tiring reading the same thing about every album. Maybe she should try to see her past albums from another point of view - so both she and fans can be more positive about her albums and those discussions wouldn’t exist. It doesn’t mean I don’t care about her wellbeing :)

I hope Gaga doesn’t feel like she needs to reach into the deepest, darkest parts of her soul just to make music. I, for one, am ready for happy Gaga.

I feel like she says this about every album, hopefully one day she’ll make an album that’s both good and doesn’t make her want to stick her head in a blender  :fatcat:

This. I feel like she felt the same way for ARTPOP. I love her but ugh…:cryga:

though it sucks she feels that way because it is truly a masterpiece album.

I‘m not surprised. It‘s the price she has to pay to give us authenticity and vulnerability. She could probably make songs that do not represent herself and don‘t showcase the darkness or issues she struggles with, but she decides to because she wants us to enjoy her art and be a part of her life. While some people here try to say she‘s just saying this or whatever - she just wants us to see parts of her life.

I feel like a lot of the "She says this after every album" comments aren't doing it out of malice or lack of empathy.

I think that knowing how Gaga is in the BUSINESS of pop music, she was actively involved with creating, writing, recording, etc. these songs of pain and trauma. So for saying she's having trouble coming back to these songs, why go through this process of creating it in the first place?  She has every right to feel how she feels and I'm not knocking her for that, I just wonder if she phrased that commented correctly?

Gaga is one of these artists whose work is fueled by dark emotions and experiences. And now, so many years into her career, we can see this pattern. I don't want to say she can't and hasn't created music out of brighter sentiments, but it's her main field where her inspiration seems to come from. For a lot of artists, many authors too, pain, sadness or despair is where their art comes from. After all she is a huge Rilke fan, for whom you can say similar. I don't think she'll ever be someone who creates songs just out of the pure joy of living.  But who knows, she has surprised us countless times...

I've only ever been suicidal twice in my life. I can't listen to Fun Tonight because the first time I did it reminded me of those two times, so to this day I always skip that song. The other songs are fine but Fun Tonight reveals something inside me that I...can't even think about. I just can't.

she's an artists, yes, she's a pop star who aims to be commercial artists, but what do you want her to sing then? about something she doesn't care? she sings songs about her life and her traumas, she puts out these albums, but then it's hard for her to comeback to these memories, what's weird about it?

The process of creating the album is what saved her.

She wasn't feeling suicidal but setting aside her feelings to write an album and appease the fans.

She has said herself that BloodPop would physically come and get her and bring her to the studio when all she could do was cry and smoke. And they turned her pain into art.

I think Chromatica gave her something to focus on during this incredibly difficult period of her life and honestly saved her from herself. It served a really important purpose for her. And now she just doesn't want to revisit it because it retraumatizes her.

I completely get it tbh. It’s just such a dark, heavy and intense album I don’t even want to imagine how she must have felt at the time.

You can absolutely tell she was in emotional pain with Alice, Rain On Me, Fun Tonight, 911, Plastic Doll, Replay, Sine From Above and 1000 Doves.

Sour Candy, guys, Sour Candy...

I know it's not a personal song and the lyrics aren't too invasive but her voice in the song... It's *VERY* shaky and nasal (not to say weak), you can instantly tell there was heavy anti-psychotic medication going on
