I don't think it is a red flag. Perhaps they just like genres that have more white people in them like Country music, for example.

I listen to more Country than rap so the artists in my faves list are mostly white.

Someone's colour in the end of the day does not dictate what music I like. All that matters is that I like how it sounds and the artist isn't a bad/evil person.

The fact that ya'll have to literally brag about how many POC artists you listen to doesn't sit right with me :awkney:

It's giving me "I have black friends so I can't be racist vibes" lmao

Yes, and some folk, and I forgot to say the Carter / Cash family , Johnny and June and their daughter, I have a ticket to see their daughter next year in concert.

I just bootlegged/ got to see Roger Mcguinn of the Byrds in July and I also got to go to an Arlo Guthrie concert a few years back and David Crosby of CSNY.

Glenn Campbell was excellent too, RIP.

I go to a lot of bluegrass festivals.  Had tickets for Johnny and June in Branson years ago but when we were in the audience for that concert an announcement was made that Johnny's brother just died and the concert was cancelled.  Saw Arlo a couple years ago.  Saw the Oak Ridge Boys, Crystal Gayle, Lee Greenwood, Roy Acuff, and I forget who else.  Mostly I attend jazz, pop, and rock concerts and opera.

I live outside the space time continuum.

It's really depends on the Genre I'm in the mood for.

For me it's less about skin tone and more about music. So I real do think there is a red flag when if people only listen to skin tone. It's weird. There is very good black artists and white artists in every genre of music.

I shy away from anything homophobic tho.

I remember there was a song that's still played alot in Miami. I used to love it. Then I had a Jamaican friend, because the song lyrics were in patois, that told me the lyrics said burn the gay man in their car, in their clubs. I was like, but how can they play this on the radio. :mark:

Hmm depends on what you call faves. There aren't POC in my top list, they are mainly rock bands and POC are unfortunately underrepresented in this genre. But for the music I like listening to regularly, there's jazz music so you find a lot of black artists there, also Rina, Babymetal mostly.

If we're talking about artists we stan then I only stan Gaga, I only have that level of obsession with her :ladyhaha:

This is the most 2021 thread I’ve ever seen in my life

it’s not a red flag to like the things that are most prominent in culture, just like the RPDR fandom arguing that skinny (blonde) white queens are the most popular and fan favorites when white blonde skinny women are the Eurocentric pillar of beauty standards

Everyone can like what they like, it’s what your don’t like/ hate that’s a red flag. Trying to justify that you can’t be problematic because you listen to Beyonce is a red flag.

my female POC friend likes male artists more than female artists but she doesn’t hate female artists, just prefers to not play them but if it came on a playlist she would be like EW A WOMAN.

:huntyga:

please enlighten me to death

i mean, if you only listent to white people making hip hop, that starts to be funny.... Jazz, rap, rock music.... it all comes from black people, so like...

If you only have white american music in your i-pod, you're not genuienly racist, but you felt in a trap and you might be... Idk.... It's like reading a history book scrapped of the POC's legacy (and it's actually happening irl). It's... You're simmering with ruts.... I think you're hurting your soul somehow, like vitamin deficiency.
