If they don't want gay people to marry in Texas then they'd either have to get the SCOTUS to strike down the law (which isn't happening) or they'd have to secede from the US (which would be fatal to their state's wellbeing but it'd also be very on brand for Texas). I personally do not feel the need to solidify my relationship on an idea that is based out of religion. I think it’s more about the fact that people are trying to push a message that gay marriage is “less than” straight marriages for a gross political gain, so it’s important to stop people like this.
