She is a solid musician and puts out catchy music for sure. But the woman releases album after album after album over and over and they never falter. Ever. Whether it's a surprise drop, a heavily promo-ed drop, or just vinyls. All smash hits. I get that she's huge. She deserves everything she has. But still. The public ALWAYS grow tired of big stars eventually. But not Taylor. Bey, Gaga, RiRi all had dips and peaks. But, again, not Taylor. Not even with the massive volume of material of late. Again, good for her, of course. It's just weird. I don't even know why it's weird. Alas. Because she's a safer (in every way) artist who appeals to a larger audience in US. That's why the scars on my mind are on replay.

The amount of thought that goes into (usually) picking release dates, announcement dates, and even minute music video details is INSANE. It literally couldn’t be more interesting for fans to follow in terms of discovering new information. Then there’s Gaga, with a loyal, rabid fanbase herself, however, that constant rush is def gone, and it’s (IMO) mostly our fault as we know. That’s not to say that there are some hiccups in the way that the Haus have handled certain situations that definitely have strained LM’s relationships with Gaga’s music. It’s hard to look past the blatantly LAAATE tour postponements, unclear releases, random blackouts and silent cancellations, the Chromatica merch DIS-AS-TER, etc. sometimes. TL;DR: It’s an obvious fact that Gaga still has one of the most dedicated and consistent fanbases, and rightfully so as she is the best performer of our generation, however, it’s not hard to believe that a lot of mishandlings by the Haus have made otherwise hardcore stans more speculative/ doubtful sometimes This is so true and why comparisons are hard. They both nurtured their fan base (correctly) when they started out but in different ways. I remember reading about Taylor before I was a fan and it was an analysis on how she’s shaped a relationship with her fans that is more like a childhood best friend rather than a artist. Most of her messaging comes across as something she thought up while writing in a journal and then told later as a hint or secret. That cultivates a personal feeling. Not saying Gaga’s isn’t personal because her core messaging starting out included celebrating differences. That is personal for a lot of people as well but her style was so magnificent and beyond expectation that it made her the pop star type with huge production. I think this has carried to today. No matter what Gaga does I feel like it was a team effort, which isn’t a dig at all. She has just created big moments throughout her career that require many parts. On the other hand my first thought when I see a Taylor clue is that she created it all on her own, even though I know she could have had help as well. It’s just the perception they created, or rather just who they are and their personalities/what they want out of their careers.
Chromatican 4,046
Honestly this is kind of disheartening to me on a personal level. It just seems like everything in culture has become a nostalgia fest and the public just isn’t here for new ideas much. The MCU dominates movie discussion, and the same few albums and artists dominate music discussion. There’s just not much sharing of the wealth and giving other people the spotlight anymore. Remakes, reboots and now rerecordings dominate.

Stop putting this on Taylor. ouuuh the stans claws are coming out. what a cute top. 3 hours ago, JusKeepBreathin said: I mean give me a break. Do you really believe she is out to get Tony? Like you really need to sit back and think things through before you write these things and hit submit reply. you are aware that before "being out to get someone" you can also simply "not have any respect for them", right? It's fairly obvious that artists check out other releases to make sure they aren't releasing their album the same week as Adele. So out of curtesy she could have avoided the L4S week, but she didn't. Don't come at me for stating facts, thank u next. But thanks for insulting me instead of actually using your mind to think things through critically. Besides, Tony is a musical legend and doesn’t need chart success. Gaga made this album with Tony because she loves him and it was a special moment for her. And i think that gaga is more of a legend artist too now instead of a charting one. Not bashing her and she does chart still but she doesnt have that chart/star power taylor, adele or drake have. And i honestly think its a good thing . She has worked very hard to cement herself as a legend artist. Imo gaga has reached that level. She did that in a relatively less time and through her versatility in music and acting. And in no way this is a hate comment on taylor adele or drake. I hope the exit is joyful and i hope never to return.

Not necessarily a bad thing, but shows the changes in this fanbase, specially when most of us are just growing old from giving all that energy. Even with mass buying we can’t pull up 130k+ copies

Evermore only did like 200,000-300,000 or something. That's a huge dip. And folklore and Lover were around 700,000-800,000 each, despite having millions of editions (box sets, vinyl variants, deluxe cds, etc.) ... Yes? This is a man who is releasing what is likely to be the final album of his life, a musical legend and legacy. The project was supposed to be released months ago but was postponed presumably to find a right release date without too much competition. If you look at all albums released on the day of release, TonyGaga is the only 'mainstream' album to be on that list. And then Drake and TS waltz in and decide to go #1 instead just to make sure he can't end his career with a bang. Not to mention ending Gaga's #1 streak. i can assure you 110% that love for sale was not on anyone’s radar

If I can find out the entire list of all relatively mainstream album releases on October 1 in less than 5 minutes, Taylor Swift, Drake and their teams are more than capable than doing so too. With that in mind, your claim that in a list of 10, or even 20 albums, they would not recognise or take notice of the names 'Tony Bennett' or even 'Lady Gaga' is quite naive imho. Not to mention Gaga has promoted it on Social for weeks, so you really want to stick with the story that Taylor Swift and Drake aren't keeping current with what another major pop artist is doing?
