Oyster 2,458
No one cares and I’m sure especially Gaga doesn’t care about a #1 for this jazz album. That’s not the point. Numbers are not everything and especially they don’t matter for this. Happy for Taylor
littlepotter 75,147
I don't wanna be one of those guys but yeah this just puts me off of her and her brand. The way this woman has found ways to extract thousands of dollars from each of her fans. chaeri pls

Because Gaga isn’t chart hungry like Taylor. Besides, Tony is a musical legend and doesn’t need chart success. Gaga made this album with Tony because she loves him and it was a special moment for her.

Quite a savage move imo when a week earlier or later would have been just as fine

The music industry doesn't have to stop because this is Tony's last album.

It wouldn't hit No.1 no matter when Taylor releases. Drake, and Meek Mill will all chart higher than L4S this week.

SevenWonder 4,373
Am I the only one that finds TS sales record weird? I really like her. She is a solid musician and puts out catchy music for sure. But the woman releases album after album after album over and over and they never falter. Ever. Whether it's a surprise drop, a heavily promo-ed drop, or just vinyls. All smash hits. I get that she's huge. She deserves everything she has. But still. The public ALWAYS grow tired of big stars eventually. But not Taylor. Bey, Gaga, RiRi all had dips and peaks. But, again, not Taylor. Not even with the massive volume of material of late. Again, good for her, of course. It's just weird. I don't even know why it's weird. Alas.

Alas. um ... she has had dips and peaks ... it's just that her metrics are far beyond what most other stars have to begin with. up until lover, taylor sold 1 million copies per album in her debut week in the US ALONE. Evermore only did like 200,000-300,000 or something. That's a huge dip. And folklore and Lover were around 700,000-800,000 each, despite having millions of editions (box sets, vinyl variants, deluxe cds, etc.) 43 minutes ago, gagaisitalian said: Do y'all really think anyone was out to get Tony? This is a man who is releasing what is likely to be the final album of his life, a musical legend and legacy. The project was supposed to be released months ago but was postponed presumably to find a right release date without too much competition. If you look at all albums released on the day of release, TonyGaga is the only 'mainstream' album to be on that list. And then Drake and TS waltz in and decide to go #1 instead just to make sure he can't end his career with a bang. Not to mention ending Gaga's #1 streak. bestie 217
Look at it this way, Taylor will have the #1 but she’ll never have a duets album with Tony Bennett.

TEANUS 15,111
On the topic someone else brought up, I think the reason Taylor keeps her fans with her consistently is the cryptic messaging. The amount of thought that goes into (usually) picking release dates, announcement dates, and even minute music video details is INSANE. It literally couldn’t be more interesting for fans to follow in terms of discovering new information. Then there’s Gaga, with a loyal, rabid fanbase herself, however, that constant rush is def gone, and it’s (IMO) mostly our fault as we know. That’s not to say that there are some hiccups in the way that the Haus have handled certain situations that definitely have strained LM’s relationships with Gaga’s music. It’s hard to look past the blatantly LAAATE tour postponements, unclear releases, random blackouts and silent cancellations, the Chromatica merch DIS-AS-TER, etc. sometimes. TL;DR: It’s an obvious fact that Gaga still has one of the most dedicated and consistent fanbases, and rightfully so as she is the best performer of our generation, however, it’s not hard to believe that a lot of mishandlings by the Haus have made otherwise hardcore stans more speculative/ doubtful sometimes British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
