"Poker Face" sample originated on Boney M's 'Love for Sale' album (1977)

So I thought this was interesting... as we all know by now, the "ma-ma-ma-ma" from Gaga's "Poker Face" is a sample of Boney M's classic song "Ma Baker"... but I just realized that "Ma Baker" was originally released on Boney M's album, 'Love for Sale' named for their cover of the same Cole Porter song.

I realize this is nothing more than coincidence, but it's kind of a crazy full circle moment...

I just realized some people don't know about the Ma Baker sample on Poker Face, and I have to share time and space with them...

I didn't know they were officially credited as an interpolation, I thought it was just inspired.

I don't believe it is officially credited, I'm probably inaccurate in calling it a "sample" if you go by the official "legal" definition of a music "sample."  But it's certainly inspired by.

There's an interview from like 2009 where some interviewer brings this up and Gaga legit says she didn't intend for this to be a sample, and it was probably a subconscious inspiration.

Interesting... I didn't realize it was unintentional!

To further your point, here's a clip of a member of Boney M confirming that they are receiving royalties for the sample!

Tbh I have a feeling RedOne was making the beat to some degree before working with her and so himself might not have known the sample was their song specifically.
