if there was a conservative judge replaced with a liberal judge, yes.  absolutely.  the supreme court has tremendous power to make the world a better place.  They have ruled on life changing issues:

1.  woman's reproductive rights
2. LGBTQ equality (marriage, employment rights, hate crime legislation)
3.  healthcare
4. voting rights 

I mean, just look at citizen united - a law that allows corporations to exploit the stupidity and ignorance of the people.  the consequences of the courts rulings definitely make things better or worse.

Of course the supreme court can make the world a better place.
