A good easy example could easily be one of the top selling and record breaking steaming phenomenon that is “Sour” 

or Miley’s incredible “Plastic Hearts” 

The GP is clearly here for that sound, especially with “Good 4 U” being so universally compared to “Misery Business”

And people love a good power ballad, see “Drivers License”, “Million Reasons”, and “Shallow.” 

And Katy is MASTERCLASS at guitar driven power ballads. “One of The Boys” is filled with them. 

There’s been a noticeable shift in the main pop queen world over the past few years, less emphasis on EDM synth pop production, and more on vocal prowess and tangible instrumentation.

Yup but I think she shouldn’t have acknowledge the numbers but should have just gave a PC answer like how  gaga loves to give. That way it wouldn’t look weird with her current situation now where she has no Grammys and no numbers.

She actually seems to be in a really good place mentally and also genuinely happy, I really love that for her. I also think that she also looks stunning lately especially with the dark hair.

A more stripped back vocal album with a rock influence could suit her extremely well. I mean she already did it, but as her voice is more mature now, I would just work so well.
And like others already pointed out - the GP would most likely love it too.

it's weird to me that she's still so booked & blessed by the media lately. I'm happy for her. But I don't understand what power Variety thinks she has.

I guess they just wanted to see how she felt but yes I agree they def wanted to trigger her because who wouldn’t be annoyed if they’re’ been in the game for so long but didn’t get any awards
