I am absolutely not someone who blindly supports Biden. He's done as many sh*tty things as he has done good things. This is obviously a sh*tty one.

BUT I don't think it's realistic to expect that he's going to be able to completely transform our country in the not even 2 years he's been in office. Especially when we still have the filibuster and we don't have a true majority in Congress.

We have to remember that, for better or worse, current governing is always done through the lens of reelection chances. Even if Biden went full progressive and did everything everyone here (including me) wants, he would piss off not only all Republicans but a significant portion of Democrats who don't support progressive policies. In that case, it would be impossible for a Dem president to win reelection and any of the progressive things he accomplished during his short time in office could simply be revoked by an incoming Republican president two years from now, resulting in zero lasting change.

Everyone is mad about him lying during his campaign, which is what literally every candidate ever has done. No one can ever deliver on every campaign promise, that's just American politics. It's awful but it's also the reality. The president doesn't operate in a vacuum.

I'm not saying any of this is right, or that it doesn't suck - but even if we take 2 steps forward and 1 step back during his administration, it's a hell of a lot better than taking 3 steps back with another Republican. The unfortunate reality is that American politics are slow to change. It's going to take time to see the real change we want.

there is PLENTY to criticize biden on, but if he doesn't have the votes on a nominee i'm not sure what people expect him to do? i think some of the criticism of biden has missed the fact that the dems have to get every single vote in the senate to do literally anything, and if they can't get all 50 senators onboard on a nominee (or a bill), there is only so much biden can do
