Eido 3,660
I am mad at Marvel playing with this movie and amazing cast. The lack of promo was blatant Just the fact that half of the dialogs are in modern Chinese is enough for me they did it so well it is a breath of fresh air
Chromatican 4,046
The movie sucked. Marvel has really spread itself too thin, the world and scenarios become more and more ludicrous with each film.

I think you just got used to the early Marvel films which were "dark" and more realist whereas the Marvel comic books are camp and pretty outrageous. Worlds like Wakanda and the one of Shang Shi are rampant in the comic books but the Avengers and stuff gave ppl a false impression that Marvel heroes are more "real" when they are not. I'd say Shang Shi is actually one of the most true to story marvel films in recent history (other than the rings being bracelets instead lol). Actually, Shang Chi has its roots in Wuxia, a genre of storytelling that’s been around for thousands of years with Wuxia films specifically dating back to the 1920s please enlighten me to death

JusKeepBreathin 19,311
I am dying. Like dying to see this movie. But I am not going to a movie theatre in Florida for any reason right now. Unless there is free bottomless Cosmo's and lots of bottoms. So I guess I'll wait for Disney+. This movie would have made soooooooooo much money pre-pandemic. sillynate 6,170
All movies since March 2020 are performing lower than before simply because millions maybe even billions of people are scared of catching covid at the cinema. What was a $300m gross is now $100m. We have to deal with it.

I shouldn’t have to read decades worth of comics to enjoy a film. The fact of the matter is is that Shang-Chi was tonally inconsistent and had a very made by committee vibe. The bus scene felt like it could’ve been in ANY Marvel movie, I wish the fights would’ve been more along the lines of the first one between Shang’s parents where it is more artful and traditional. I just found the movie in poor taste overall and Awkwafina felt like a total add on and had no reason to be fighting expert fighters and in supernatural scenarios given her lack of training but I’m glad they at least had a male/female relationship that wasn’t a romance.
