Hyperpop is more like a statement than a genre itself. There are many different and distinct things under this umbrella. For me, as a producer, artist and enthusiastic person, Hyperpop is everything that goes against the traditional mainstream pop, almost like a satire. By saying that, DOC is 100% Hyperpop for me :)

Eh, I'll live. It's not even that I dislike it, I just don't understand the increasing interest in it, and especially this seeming desire to force gaga's music into that genre.

SFA isn't a major element of hyper pop pitched and sped up vocals

911 as well, it’s literally produced by AG Cook and sounds like something straight out of PC Music Vol.1 and Vol.2

PC Music not necessarily Hyperpop and AG  & Charli also do other genres

2 pages and I still don’t know what the hell Hyperpop is.

It’s because hyperpop is a label that TikTok came up with last year, the genre is better described as experimental pop. Stupid love, rain on me, 911, replay, sine from above, are probably the best examples of experimental pop.

The word hyperpop would more accurately describe artists like 100 gecs, and some SOPHIE and Charli XCX songs but not all of them. Faceshopping by SOPHIE and Pink Diamond by Charli are good examples of what you could call hyper pop

Replay, Plastic Doll, Rain On Me and Sine From Above I think?

I think it’s more about the artists because Arca, Dorian, Ashnikko and Charli are known for making Hyperpop music.

Arca is not a hyperpop artist, for the 100th time

Hyperpop has been around before TikTok picked up on it

Well technically "Hyperpop" is just an umbrella term for all kinds of music not fitting in any other music genre :huntyga:. So Metal, Rock and even classical music can be on hyperpop songs. For example, Dorian Electra often incorporates Baroque music into their songs.

But also , most of hyperpop songs are very experimental and rarely have the traditional song structure.

So in my opinion, 911, Replay and SFA are definitely hyperpop, but Sour Candy is also mildly dipping into it.

Ew, David!
